October 8, 201511 yr Damn I'm old. Anyone else ever use a slide rule? These computers still get a lot of use.
October 8, 201511 yr 1979, senior year of high school. I think it was a TRS-80. I think we had to come in before school started to take the class. Later purchased my own VIC-20 and then Commodore 64

October 8, 201511 yr First computer we had in our house was a Texas Instruments don't remember model. Programs were loaded with cassette tapes which took awhile. They then had an attachment for game cartridges, I remember playing mountain climber. The last upgrade I remember was a voice synthesizer for it, wow sound from the computer. Quite awhile back my Mom was emptying out stuff before my parents moved. Choices were the TI computer and our original Atari system. My brother wanted the Atari, lost out on that one. I miss playing Adventure and Asteroids. Wore out several controllers playing Decathelon, not to mention lists of blisters!
October 8, 201511 yr I was in 6th grade I think, so that would put it at around 1982 or 83. Whatever the Apple model that was out at that time. I remember playing Lemonade Stand and some Civil War game.
October 9, 201511 yr Spring of '83, my junior year up on the "hill", Computer Science class. The teacher that taught that class is on staff at NewCath.
October 9, 201511 yr .. 1981, Commodore 64. Remember that external modem like it was yesterday. Loved swapping 5.25" floppy disk games with kids at school.
October 9, 201511 yr My parents were divorced, both had remarried, would visit Dad on weekends and he had a TRS-80, then a Commodore Vic 20, then a 64. Dad even got a portable Commodore 64 that was about the size of a boom box, had the keyboard with a spiral telephone like cord, little mono crt screen, and the big actually floppy floppy disks. Dad died about 13 years ago, and his basement was like a computer museum.
October 9, 201511 yr My first programming was done on UK's IBM 370. The first computer I ever owned was a TRS-80 Model I. The first I ever heavily modified, a TRS-80 CoCo in 1981. I upgraded the processor to a 2 MHz 68B09E and added a MMU to expand the on board memory to 512 kilobytes. I then replaced the tape recorder interface with a set of 5 1/4 in floppy drives, added a 5 MB hard drive, and upgraded the operating system to OS/9. It ran circles around the early IBM PCs and Apple IIs. Wrote my first game on that computer.
October 9, 201511 yr As a teacher in the late 70's or early 80's. They gave us 4 for the room, not sure what model or brand. The kids played Oregon Trail and Mathblasters. I used to stay hours after school playing them. I am not sure if this was a computer, I think it was. I played Pong in the Morehead Campus Grill in 72 & 73.
October 10, 201511 yr That's hard to remember. I don't know the model, but it looked almost identical to this one. I remember our teacher told us we weren't allowed to eat toast and jelly for breakfast because we would get it on the keyboard. This is what I remember. Probably sometime around 1991 or 92 for me.
