October 8, 201511 yr Seems like there is a good spread of ages here on BGP, and since most of us seem to be at least moderate technology junkies to boot, I figured this could get some interesting answers. The first time I used a computer would have been in September 1987, when I had my first weekly computer class in the 1st grade at Blessed Sacrament Grade School. They were running the show with a classroom full of Apple IIe's. Those computers came complete with 64 kb of RAM - which is 32,768 times less RAM than my Samsung GS5 phone has.
October 8, 201511 yr That's hard to remember. I don't know the model, but it looked almost identical to this one. I remember our teacher told us we weren't allowed to eat toast and jelly for breakfast because we would get it on the keyboard.
October 8, 201511 yr This bad boy, TRS-80 complete with cassette player backup. Junior year of high school (82-83), I was one of just 2 Juniors in school to get in the new Computer Math class, the rest were Seniors. We spent the entire year just writing simple BASIC programs...I Loved It!!!!
October 8, 201511 yr Probably early 70's when we were goofing around with these things: Many late nights at the computer lab cussing at those dang things!
October 8, 201511 yr I am in the minority on this site; I don't remember my first time using a computer because ever since I can remember my family has had one. The only significant thing with computers I remember was asking my Dad for permission to sign up for AIM Instant Messenger when I was in 2nd or 3rd grade.
October 8, 201511 yr I can't remember exactly but I know it was in the early 90's. Bought our first computer to play Duke Nukem online with the guys I work with.
October 8, 201511 yr Sometime in the 90s. It was one of those ones with big like 5.5 disks. I played Carmen San Diego nonstop.
October 8, 201511 yr First computer was a Tandy from Radio Shack in the early/mid 80's and then the awesome Commodore 64.
