As stated before i have not seen Highlands play this year. So yes i am judging off of results, how else could one judge a team they have not seen play? You also put that I said many other teams WOULD beat Highlands. FALSE if you read what i posted you can clearly see that it says many teams COULD beat Highlands. What is so far fetched that conner, ncc, beachwood or scott could beat highlands? I agree those teams would have 1 or 0 wins with highlands schedule, but they also wouldnt be ranked in the top 5. Once again no disrespect to the birds but i dont think they deserve to be ranked fifth.

 

I guess it depends on how one looks at a poll. If you just want to look at record then yes I agree. However I know for me when I rank teams, I base it off of who I think would win if they played. So while they may not deserve to be ranked that high with their record, if it is based on who would win if teams played. Then I think it is very reasonable to still have Highlands ahead of others. It just depends on how you look at it I guess.

Strength of schedule always has to be a big factor when doing a ranking. Every team ranked #4 and lower would lose to all the teams that have beaten Highlands. Almost all of those losses would be just as lopsided or worse than what Highlands suffered.

What are you basing this on? Ryle beat CovCath by 7. No other losses from NKY teams and beat a solid Beechwood team. I wouldn't say everybody else could beat them. Don't let the record fool you. What wins by the other teams 4-10 make you think they deserve to be ranked higher

Well, this is a power ranking. It's not based upon points, so it's 100% subjective. It's all about the eye test, and who CWB felt would win head to head match ups.

Does HHS play Conner? I would be really interested in that game if they played. It would tell us a lot about both teams.

 

Conner to me is puzzling. They have won some games but the scores are a lot closer than I would expect so I don't know if it is a matter of them playing down to their opponents or if they are just not that good beating not so good teams.

 

Can we call a timeout in the middle of the season and have those two schools play?

If that is what he meant then I apologize. I was going off of this thread title which was NKY top 10 and thought that was what he was referring too.

 

I was referring to the 6A top ten, but I should have made that clear given we're in the NKY top ten thread. Cooper is definitely #3 in NKY and has the potential to get back into the top ten of 6A, but I was making that statement based off of current rankings.

 

I definitely have a bias towards Trinity, and a smaller basis toward DeSales, but there aren't any teams I dislike.

 

EDIT: And Cooper has the potential to be #2 in NKY but they'll need to prove it when they play Ryle.

IMO there is only 1 other team in NKY who has a chance to beat Highlands and that is CovCath.

 

Beechwood, Conner, Lloyd, NCC all would give them a good game but no way they beat the Birds.

IMO there are many teams that could beat Highlands on any given Friday this season.

Beechwood (1A / 4-1) Maybe, just maybe

Bellevue (1A / 2-4) Only if Schreiber, the Sutkamp's, Crittenden, & Sprague's have eligibility left

Bishop Brossart (1A / 5-0) Not in your grandkids lifetime

Boone County (6A / 0-6) Uh.....NO!

Bracken County (1A / 2-4) Better chance of being hit by lightning

Campbell County (6A / 0-6) NA-DA

Carroll County (2A / 2-4) See Bracken Co.

Conner (6A / 4-1) Maybe, was impressed by this bunch

Cooper (6A / 4-2) Already did

CovCath (5A / 1-5) Good possibility

Dayton (1A / 1-5) Maybe with a team full of Jason Skirvin's

Dixie Heights (5A / 1-4) Last years team would of
