Mauk was pulled, correct? With PT, we can go back 9 games then. PT has had 15 starts. How big of a sample size does a QB need to prove their worth?

The Vandy QB is #3 in the league in passing yards. Their top receiver is leading the league in receiving yards.

 

What the SEC lacks in Quarterback play, it makes up for (somewhat) in the backfield. Chubb & Fournette are two of the best college football players in America. Throw in Derrick Henry & Boom Williams...that's a pretty good foursome.

This board is probably the last place to actually get a genuine discussion on this topic because of where the QB's are from and where the majority of the members of this board are located. If PT was from some school in Oklahoma I don't think there would be half as many people on here saying he should continue to march out there each Saturday.

 

To make it even clearer, if PT was from Oklahoma and Drew being from here, there would be 90% of the folks on this board clamoring for Barker to get a shot right now.

 

The problem is both QB's are from NKY so you now have divided camps and it shouldn't be that way.

 

If any other QB had the lowest rating in the conference there wouldn't be a debate on how you can't sit him now.

There is nothing that supports Towles being one of the best QB's in the SEC. If there is, I haven't seen it, and I'll wait to be corrected if so.

I was just pointing out that SEC offenses, the QB's at least, are less than impressive. But I do think that's the case all across the country.

I gave Towles his chance when people early on were being hard on him. I was hoping he would correct some of the mistakes as the season progresses. But the truth is, I have not seen any improvement at all in him.

 

IMO, its time to give Barker a chance. He may or may not be as good as Towles at this point, but during the offseason the coaches were giving us the perception that both were about equal.

 

I get it, if you have two qb's that appear equal in practice, play the one that has experience. But on the other hand, some qb's are great in practice and stink it up in game situations, I'm afraid that's Towles problem. Barker on the other hand could be the same way, but we won't know until he gets some time on the field. I think it's time to give him a chance.

Very true. If you don't have a running game in the SEC then you will struggle to put up many points against average defenses. I have not been impressed with any SEC QB's lately.

 

That is another reason why if Barker could get a shot and did decent, he would have a ton of recognition not only around these parts but possibly the SEC due to no other QB's really doing much.

At first glance I thought the same. I didn't feel the same after seeing the replay.

If we had WKU's QB we would win 8-9 games, just my opinion. How in the world can we not recruit a QB beats me, other teams have back up QB's step in and they are still winning and playing well. Patrick is a great kid, he is not a SEC QB, enough said, however if they would run him more, he would have more success, more like what Florida ran with Tebow. His accuracy is awful, yes the dropped TD hurt, but honestly should of never been thrown, double coverage. Barker is not the answer either, time to go all in for a QB, we only started 2 kids from Ky, and one of the is Towles.

 

I always find it interesting when someone says a guy is not the answer when they have never seen him play a college snap. Based off what exactly?

Towles isn't making a lot of plays. But really it's not his fault. When u get sacked 6 times an knock down or hurried 10-15 times. O-line needs to step up. Barker or towles. Would be the same outcome if line plays that way
