There's a lot of talk about the past and I can understand it, but I honestly believe it's fair to say that Simon Kenton could have beaten Highlands if they played at certain times over the past ten years. It's too bad that we won't know because it didn't happen over that time.

 

However, we are in the present now. From a completely objective point of view, I believe that the Pioneers need to win this one going away and more to be considered a legitimate contender in 6A. I would love to see SK or another team from NKY in 6A win state, but a lot more has to be proven for me to believe that.

Seems to me you were the only one looking forward to this game since last summer. Cooper already stole your thunder in week 0 so this game is t very interesting except it will finally give you something Cooper already has, bragging rights over HHS for a year.

It has definitely lost its luster. If Highlands wins this game ukfan should be permanently banned. Even Highlands fans don't expect to win this game and they are sick about it. This game is a foregone conclusion. I bet @TheDeuce doesn't even bother to go.

 

Yeah, I'm not making the trip anymore. Was looking forward to this one for a while, but don't think it's going to be worth it.

He's been right more then wrong over his years on BGP, no matter if everyone else likes it or not.

Not even close. The last 2 years alone including this year he has predicted a Cooper loss every week as well as every other NKY team he can't stand. He is far from even being close to 30% in his predictions.

I'm talking about normal everyday fans and the players. How many players have you heard say, "I'm glad we won, but I wish that team was better this year so it would mean more"?

 

Granted it's been over 10 years since I played, but wins definitely didn't mean as much if you knew the other team was terrible. You'd be surprised how the players (most, not all) can keep it in perspective. At least in my experience.

I don't see it. Even with Simpson and Lawerence. 2008 SK was good, but they lost to my Breds. 2009, they were really good, but HHS was stupid good. Those were their 2 best shots due to Simpson being a HR hitter and Lawerence being a stud QB.

We are prepared to play the game and if it is a beating that's fine. But if it's not...oh my!

 

It's one game and one loss. After what's going on this year, do you think HHS fans are concerned about a beating from SK?? We've been beat by everyone! We have bigger fish to fry this year and more to be concerned about. Our "program" will survive and we will get back at some point. What's actually comical is that in half a season, people are ready to say the dynasty is over and the king has been dethroned! Ha ha ha...it's inevitable that small schools will have some down years every once in awhile. It just doesn't happen very often at HHS. So it's funny all this talk about HHS and how bad they are. I get it, take your shots when you can because that opportunity doesn't come around very often. But history (and a long history) tells us they will be back on top in time.

 

And what is also funny to me...is a team that has a school twice the size of HHS and uses Trinity as an example of being too big to beat all the time...is soooo excited about this game against a very mediocre HHS. With the size of SK and the "hyped" up program, shouldn't this be a "beat down" (as you call it) every year???? Why should HHS ever be able to compete with SK?? I know...a little sacasim there...but think about that.

 

At the end of the day...you and all the other hater fans can have your year of beating the king. Have fun with it. I know you've been waiting for a long time! I agree with the second part of your post. If SK doesn't win this with a running clock, then it will confirm what I think to be true is that NKy as a whole just isn't great this year. Nothing leads me to believe that any teams other than Beechwood has a chance to make a run. I will wait to see SK, but I would have expected a much larger deficit last night against Cooper if they were legit contenders...especially with Cooper's running back out! I thin Cooper, Ryle and SK are good for NKy, but I just don't know how good that is this year. Nothing I've seen so far tells me any of those teams will do anything different than any of the past teams...other than Dixie last year. And let's face it, their run was fun, but not a very tough path. So unless the path is similar, I just don't see it. Hopefully SK can change my opinion this week. They are the only one I haven't seen.

No running clock. Im taking SK by 20. Interested to see what changes the Pioneers make in the kicking game.
