Cmon Birds. Nobody thinks you can do it so the pressure is off. All you have to do is bring the hit to them like its the one and only play every play. The D needs to have that old Dale mindset of "be the guy that makes the tackle".... not ugh I have to tackle him this time. 11 hats on the ball when the whistle blows. I know the voting is very one sided, but is the game truly going to be that way? X has shown the ability, but if I was a H fan would see an average team that can be beat, very much unlike the T team H scrimmaged a few year in a row. Just don't know how consistent this X team is.

However even if you have the size or talent and it is not used in the way that makes a difference what would size or talent have to do with making this team what it needs to be? I think everyone of these boy's have talent. Are they the same size as most of the birds from years out maybe not, However with that being said sometimes with the size that is all you have.Size doesn't make you a football player. As for the kick off mess up that boy is a heck of a kicker. One mess up doesn't make him a bad player. What I see in our boy's is they know who has the talent to stand next to them because they practice with them everyday , However if the staff isn't listening to the players and what they think needs to happen then that is a issue. As many know my son warms the bench and that is ok with me. However he does hang out with the big players of Friday night and they all talk and know who needs to play and who does not. The players as well as the Highlands fans have had enough. I let my son and his friends read this thread and they laughed and said people who think they know what they are talking about is "CLUELESS". All I can ask from all the TRUE blue birds fans is ENCOURAGE THEM, SUPPORT THEM, AND STAND BEHIND THEM AS PARENT'S AND FANS. It doesn't take one or two players to make a team it takes them all. Let's all stand beside these boy's that is all they want. They will get done what they need to. God bless and be kind. Our boy's do read this garbage.

This is simply a down cycle, talent wise, for the Birds. There are only a handful of really good football players and you cannot hide 3-5 marginal players on either side of the ball. We just have to hope some players develop as the season goes on.

Yes they should take into consideration how these boy's feel and what they feel needs changes

I will ask the question because I do not know the answer.........Is the platoon system really not effective this year for Highlands?

I watched the Cooper game and Cooper was gassed at the half (own Coach said so) and I expect Highlands to bounce back in the second half. But it did not happen.

 

Birds handle the Camels just fine. And while Camels are not a great team they are not a pushover.

 

I'm not sure what happened in the Scott Co game. But maybe that is biased by watching them get hammered at Elder.

 

And with Ryle they seemed to just not get over the hump from playing behind most of the game.

 

So is the two platoon system something that will show improvement over time and is needed for the playoff run? Or is it simply not feasible with this team?

I bleed blue kool aid like a lot of you but my mind says St. X this week. I just wonder how many BGP members weren't even born the last time HHS started 1-4. It was 1939, about seven years before my parents even met. In 1954 they only had one win after five games but no losses--go figure, 4 ties in a five game stretch.
