Habib
Considering it terms of a contingency? Obviously. Should they do it? No. It makes no sense unless there is more intelligence than the public is aware of.
OlDog75
Man, I don't know. They're surrounded on three sides by countries that aren't too friendly toward them. I can understand why it might be considered, but would the US back them in a move like this? Not real sure this administration would be quick to come to their aid if things got bad. sportsfan41
Iran's leader came out and said Israel would not be around in 25 years. Propaganda from a government that may not be around in 25 years. How ironic.
HHSHOG62
Preemptive strikes are almost never justifiable under the Geneva Convention. It relies on the premise of an imminent threat, and the definition of when a threat is truly imminent is constantly up for debate. I find it hard to believe that what Khomeini said today can be declared anything other than radical rhetoric, much less an imminent threat. From an international governance (oxy-moron right there) i highly doubt Israel would have legal standing for a preemptive strike against Iran based on comments today from Khomeini.
