I don't think the Clerks actually perform the marriages, only issue the license's.

I saw this from several places, and I'm not sure exactly what it means? Are they legally recognized or what? She said they were going to say that they were authorized by a court order, and not by her. Does this make any difference? If there is a difference, then what is it? If the license is legally the same, then this really shouldn't matter. She still gets to pretend that she is just so persecuted, and people can get their marriage licenses.
