Taylor County On Probation?

Featured Replies

Not everyone at camp cheats and scrimmages...some people actually take their teams to camp to GET BETTER at what they do. I know...shocking! Lets not lump "everyone" in the "everyone" category.

Crooked as a snake, always has been and always will be. There is a reason for his sudden departure from Pikeville College you know! If you didn't think his normal antics would follow him to TC, then you don't know the man very well. However, Cook doesn't care and will happily do what is necessary to get a winning product on the field...no matter the cost.

Also missing first 3 days of school to go to camp, witch is a big no no!!

Yikes! If true, that is a big one.

Everyone used to scrimmage at camp because that is what was allowed to be done.

Within the last year or two the rules have changed where there are no live scrimmages only practices amongst your own team.

It is highly likely that other programs were also participating in that setting, but these two long time members have taken the high road, admitted to the violations and pledged commitment to ensuring that these types of violations are not repeated.”

Yep...high road...that's what I think of when I think of those 2 programs! LOL

The Kentucky High School Athletic Association announced Wednesday it has sanctioned the Bell County and Taylor County football programs for their participation in a preseason camp on the weekend of Aug. 7.

Both programs were fined $2,500 and placed on probation through the 2016-17 school year. Also, Bell County has imposed a one-game suspension on head coach Wayne Mills.

“These two schools and school systems have been supremely cooperative in our review of what transpired the weekend of August 7,” KHSAA commissioner Julian Tackett said in a news release. “It is highly likely that other programs were also participating in that setting, but these two longtime members have taken the high road, admitted to the violations and pledged commitment to ensuring that these types of violations are not repeated.”

The KHSAA ruled Bell County and Taylor County both committed four violations during the event — scrimmaging an opponent for more than three hours or scrimmaging multiple opponents, failing to provide required rest following full-gear practice, exceeding the time limits for contact and exceeding the allowable time for daily practice.

Since both schools opened their seasons Aug. 21, they were both allowed just one scrimmage. Bell County violated that rule by playing a second scrimmage Aug. 14. Taylor County canceled its second scrimmage scheduled for Aug. 14.

Taylor County, which is coached by veteran Dudley Hilton, was fined an additional $300 for videotaping a future opponent without permission on Aug. 14, a violation of the KHSAA’s sportsmanship rules.

“Though there are claims that this video was destroyed prior to use, it is nonetheless a documented violation,” the KHSAA said in its report.

“As soon as we were made aware of the potential violation, we quickly investigated and unfortunately confirmed that it had happened,” Taylor County athletic director Jeff Gumm said. “We have not only been forthright and cooperative, we have directed all of the coaches within our athletic program to ensure this type of violation is not repeated.”

The High road. How is cheating and getting caught ever considered

the "High Road"? Julian is a

wuss.

What about Taylor goin full pads early than the date by khsaa. Also missing first 3 days of school to go to camp, witch is a big no no!!

Not true. The team left after school on Thursday and only missed Friday from school

Im sure he will have to tell KHSAA who he did the illegal scrimmage with. Just curious to who it was and if they go on probation.

Yes one of the other posts named one of the other schools that participated, but there was another

Superintendent loves him and his ways. Julian acted and fined them $2000. You can tell on here from the "everybody does it" crowd that people haven't been turning him in. Julian isn't going around seeking to punish people so members have to hold each other accountable.

That is how Taylor ended up with Hilton. Their super does have some old school football ties. He knew Hilton was available from Pikeville. The previous coach, while not highly successful in the W column was a fine man that tried to help the kids become fine men (he was at Adair before going to Taylor). He started last season 0-3 and the third loss was a blowout to cville. Cook knew Hilton was available and that Taylor was struggling so he pulled the trigger and brought Hilton in. In fairness to Hilton, he did go 4-3 for the remainder of the regular season. What was interesting, as part of this process, Cook made himself a default coach. He was either in the box or on the sideline for most of Hilton's games last year. Not sure if he has been relieved of his "coaching" duties this year. It is interesting though. Given what we did to Taylor the first game of the season, I am fully expecting cville to take Taylor to the shed Friday. We scrimmaged cville and played Taylor. Based on those two experiences, Taylor should get embarrassed Friday night. If they do, they will be 0-3 again to start the season with a drubbing by the cross town rival (as well as the KHSAA trouble). The irony, to me anyway, given the exact same situation as last year, what will Cook do?

Sorry I was wrong about the three days. But missing school for camp is missing and from my understanding is still against the rules!!

Missing school? WHAT, that is a KDE rule...... wow.

Would it be a team from Stanford.... and I am not talking about California?

Heard that name elsewhere so might as well throw it out there.

Wonder why the KHSAA chose this year to start enforcing the rules? Last year they had pictures of teams at Campbellsive College scrimmaging and in full pads too early. Guess those coaches are above the rules.
