Very sad. Player was helping move heavy piece of equipment when it fell on player. This story, unfortunately, is far from over. Many PRAYERS for all connected to this tragic story.

Awful, Awful news. I think this is the first I've heard of something like this happening. I think those "football chutes" are pretty common practice equipment.

 

Prayers go out to the young man's family, coaches, team mates and friends.

 

Very commonplace. When I was playing, we ran offensive line drills in the chutes at least a couple of times a week. We used chutes that looked more like these:

 

 

But looking online, some of the current-day variants like this 16' long model by Rogers Athletics, seem like they could do some serious damage were they to collapse.
