July 30, 201511 yr Author It surprised me that Leake had a higher strikeout to walk ratio than Bailey. Granted, it's not by much (0.14), but Leake is also just as close to Cueto by the same margin, which is also suprising. And before someone jumps me for this...yes, I know this is based upon their entire career. Cueto the past few years has been WELL ABOVE what that average mark is.
July 30, 201511 yr Lance was saying that Leake should get 5 years, $70 million in FA. Walt oughta offer that to him right now. If he says "no," or doesn't respond, at least you offered it before you traded him. I would pay him that now or in FA.
July 30, 201511 yr Are these averages at that age? I'd say pitcher 2. Pitcher two is who I'd go with as the least attractive. Doesn't surprise me that its Bailey since I don't care for him.
July 30, 201511 yr V Pitcher two is who I'd go with as the least attractive. Doesn't surprise me that its Bailey since I don't care for him. But let's remember, a guy as good as him is worth every penny of $105 million to some folks, which is an absolute joke.
July 31, 201511 yr It's kind of funny hearing so many people talk about how they have always been fans of Leake. When before last year most of the comments on him were not ones of people liking him. As others have said the Reds definitely made the wrong choice by keeping Homer.
July 31, 201511 yr Bobblehead night every night and the new TV deal will enable them to sign Leake,Chapman and Frazier to max deals This was tongue in cheek by the way.:sarcastic:

July 31, 201511 yr Well everyone in here should be ecstatic!! All I've heard all season is how the Reds needed to trade Cueto and others like Leake and Chapman etc. Well they got rid of their two best pitchers and got.....well nothing in return for both. Oh I'm sorry, they got "prospects" Yea prospects ALWAYS pan out. so we got rid of our 2 best starting pitchers, now maybe 2we can trade Chapman real quick so we can have no starting pitching and no bullpen. That would be great!!! World Series 2016 here we come!

That would be great!!! World Series 2016 here we come! I am very happy with what they got in return for Leake. Much better than what they were getting when he walked at the end of the season. You do realize that we got their #1 pitching prospect, right?
July 31, 201511 yr And if they hadn't traded them they would have received 2 draft picks. So yes knowledgable Reds fans are ecstatic about the return Walt received for both of them. Come on Hellbird, you're smarter than that. Exactly, we got 5 guys with milb service time and professional scouting reports on them already. We got the Royals number one pitching prospect, the fastest rising Royals pitching prospect and the Royals prospect with maybe the most upside in their entire organization if he can get back to where he once was in Lamb. From the Giants we got there best prospect and one that has been rising since the season began, should crack some top 100 lists when the season ends. Then we got a nice piece in Duvall with huge pop that should play well in GABP and upgrade the bench or maybe he pulls a Frazier and becomes an All-Star because he has the talent. The other side of the argument would be to take two comp picks with scouting reports only against either high school or college pitching. These comp picks would've cost the Reds millions of dollars and would likely be 4 or 5 years from sniffing the majors. I'll take my chances with 5 young controllable players with years worth of scouting reports facing professional competition versus the two comp picks. All the guys the Reds acquired are either able to help them immediately or within a 2 year window rather than 4 or 5.
July 31, 201511 yr Hate to see Leake go but understand the business side of it. Would have preferred it be Bailey that went instead .
July 31, 201511 yr When Homer Bailey is now your #1 pitcher you are in trouble This team will go nowhere fast
July 31, 201511 yr And if they hadn't traded them they would have received 2 draft picks. So yes knowledgable Reds fans are ecstatic about the return Walt received for both of them. Come on Hellbird, you're smarter than that. There is a reason the Reds haven't won anything in 25 years. You can get all excited over prospects, but you fail to realize that THEY ARE JUST PROSPECTS, if they are so great, why weren't they pitching for their big clubs? It is what it is.....
