July 30, 201511 yr Ok, but he put his car in gear whilst stopped by an officer. Why would any reasonable person put their car in gear during a traffic stop? I'm assuming he was about to start driving off. Again, why does it matter? A man's life was needlessly ended. That's all that matters.
July 30, 201511 yr The only thing heard clearly before the shot is the car starting and the officer yelling stop... Not to mention, every car revs up on its own right after it starts, and then settles to a lower RPM. To me you can clearly hear hear the engine start to rev as the shouting starts, then the shot and the engines rev more. Do you really think the cop shot him before the car was ever moving?
July 30, 201511 yr If this hasn't been shared here it is: Fraternal Order of Police of Ohio Statement by Jay McDonald, President of the Fraternal Order of Police of Ohio "The Fraternal Order of Police of Ohio was disappointed by Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters' remarks that disparaged all of the officers of the University of Cincinnati Police Department. These professional officers are dedicated to protecting their community and work tirelessly to do so. University police are certified state peace officers and they do their job with honor and distinction just as city police, county sheriff deputies, and other law enforcement professionals do. Prosecutor Deters also referred to enforcing Ohio’s vehicle laws as “chicken crap.” Ohio’s legislature has determined that every vehicle must have a front license plate and thirty-four other States have the same law. Ohio’s law enforcement officers have found enforcing the front license plate law to be invaluable in solving crimes, ranging from robberies and murders. Fleeing felons, wanted fugitives, even terrorists have been caught because of traffic stops for minor vehicle code violations. We understand that politicians often make statements meant for political impact and aimed at public opinion. That appears to be what this prosecutor was doing. But his remarks should not have disparaged all university police or the thousands of officers who follow the law by conducting traffic stops for minor misdemeanor violations." Doesn't address whether or not UCPD are trained like CPD. Wonder if that was on purpose.

July 30, 201511 yr Deuce, who is they? When have i ever suggested that the shooting was justified? I merely made an observation.
July 30, 201511 yr Do you really think the cop shot him before the car was ever moving? No, I do not. I think the car was rolling because he had put it in gear. I do not think he had accelerated before he was shot.
July 30, 201511 yr Not my intent. Just sharing information. I didn't mean your intent. I meant by whoever made the statement.
July 30, 201511 yr Deters said the car was slowly rolling when the shot was fired... Slowly rolling doesnt get you down the road 30-40 feet in 2 seconds.
July 30, 201511 yr No, I do not. I think the car was rolling because he had put it in gear. I do not think he had accelerated before he was shot. I don't think he was slamming on the gas but I believe he was beginning to press on the gas. To be honest this could be argued all day but none of it changes the fact the cop messed up. Again, in my unexpert opinion and judging only by the video, the cop should have never pulled his gun. If someone in police work can explain why he would I may change my mind.
July 30, 201511 yr I didn't mean your intent. I meant by whoever made the statement. It was a FOP representative pointing out that Deters was bashing the police for doing their job using a law on the books that has been very productive in keeping many people safe. I didn't see the comment but it was definitely irresponsible on the part of Deters. If he thinks something is chicken crap he should have been lobbying for change a long time ago and not taking a cheap shot at police officers when it suits his political agenda.
July 30, 201511 yr Slowly rolling doesnt get you down the road 30-40 feet in 2 seconds. After he was shot you can hear the car really accelerate.
July 30, 201511 yr Slowly rolling doesnt get you down the road 30-40 feet in 2 seconds. No but being shot in the head and having the weight of your body pressed down against the pedal would....:idunno: Why are you so intent on defending this guy?

Perfectly reasonable statement. When I saw it was a statement from the police union my first thought was "here we go, this will be a full-throated endorsement of Tensings' shooting of DuBose." So, they didn't do that, which is good.
