July 30, 201511 yr No way. The officer was not in danger. he can't be in danger when the car is not going to hit him. The guy on the sidewalk is not in danger when the car is on the street. You're stretching. Did the car not end up on the sidewalk at the intersection? Yes it did, so how can you say people were not at risk with the suspect trying to flee. The suspect had a liquor bottle in the car, that he showed to the officer. How do we know the suspect wasnt under the influence? Is that a danger to the public?
July 30, 201511 yr With the way the events went, I say anything could have happened if he had gotten out of the car. That officer clearly wasn't fit to be in law enforcement. Come on, if he gets out of the car he isn't going to be gunned down. You do bring up an interesting point in the last sentence. Are the University officers trained like regular police or are they kind like a step down?
July 30, 201511 yr It was not a methodical murder. It was a murder. If adding levels to that makes you somehow justify it in your mind, that's on you...
July 30, 201511 yr Again as a suspect why would you restart the car unless you had intent to either flee, or harm the officer in order to get away.
July 30, 201511 yr Come on, if he gets out of the car he isn't going to be gunned down. Based on what? The officers calm and professional approach to the situation??
July 30, 201511 yr Comply or die is not, or should not be a policing method when we are talking traffic infractions. Non-violent offenders should not have to fear for there life. This.

You can't shoot a guy who then can't drive his car and THEN say "look - he ended up on the sidewalk - he was a danger." The liquor bottle didn't appear to be open or the officer would have said something.
July 30, 201511 yr Again as a suspect why would you restart the car unless you had intent to either flee, or harm the officer in order to get away. Shooting a fleeing driver for a misdemeanor is not acceptable.
July 30, 201511 yr Based on what? The officers calm and professional approach to the situation?? You are correct. If he gets out of the car and cooperates the policeman would have gunned him down. Happens all the time.

The suspect had a liquor bottle in the car, that he showed to the officer. How do we know the suspect wasnt under the influence? Is that a danger to the public? The car did end up on the sidewalk, yes. But that was more than likely because the driver was dead since he was shot in the head. The liquor bottle was sealed. Not opened. I have sealed liquor bottles in my car every now and then when I go to the store. Should I be shot because of it? I don't think so. Again as a suspect why would you restart the car unless you had intent to either flee, or harm the officer in order to get away. In this country, you can't shoot a fleeing felon just because they are fleeing.

July 30, 201511 yr Another situation where the police could have shot the tires out instead of killing someone. Ok, please people stop with the shoot the tires out scenario. The cop was wrong and is being rightfully so charged with murder. There is no shooting the tires out scenario. That only happens in movies. Please stop living in fantasy land.

July 30, 201511 yr So you guys are saying the suspect starting the car, should not have put the officer on notice that a dangerous situation was possible?
