July 29, 201511 yr I just watched the video about 5 times right in a row, and I see what you are saying with the oil mark (use the silver car on the right as reference as well.) The officer is further down the road. That is indisputable. Deters is dead wrong when he said the officer fell backwards after firing the shot. Dead Wrong.
July 29, 201511 yr I'm not saying the officer was in the right but the prosecutor is misleading in his comments.

I won't argue that the officer wasn't further down the road, he was. I think that was him trying to run with the car when DuBose started to drive off. BUT the officer didn't fall until after firing the shot. He was upright when he pulled the trigger. Deters is not wrong on that fact.
July 29, 201511 yr 1. It isn't easy to hit a moving target. 2. Have you never heard of ricochet? The car was right in front of the officer.
July 29, 201511 yr The car was right in front of the officer. Seriously? Do you even see what you are typing right now?
July 29, 201511 yr Author He was asked if he had a license on him. What was the command? I think it's obvious he was looking around for the license. Why tell him no until he knows he doesn't have it on him? I don't think he was blatantly ignoring any commands. The officer asked for his license, and DuBose was looking for it, and finally said he didn't think he had the license on him. The officer asked about the bottle of liquor on the floor, DuBose didn't just offer it up. Tensing reached in the car, the car started rolling, Tensing pulled his gun and shot him in the head. He asked him 8 times if he had his license, another time if it was suspended, the 10th time was right before the cop reached in the car and shot him. So did we both see the same video or did we both see what we wanted to see?
July 30, 201511 yr The officer is further down the road. That is indisputable. Deters is dead wrong when he said the officer fell backwards after firing the shot. Dead Wrong. How is he wrong? Im seriously confused? The officer fell away from the car AFTER he fired the shot.. Are you suggesting the shot was fired after he fell down?
July 30, 201511 yr He asked him 8 times if he had his license, another time if it was suspended, the 10th time was right before the cop reached in the car and shot him. So did we both see the same video or did we both see what we wanted to see? There was no "command" given. He was asking a question. There is a difference. If you want to say he didn't answer immediately, that's fine. He didn't disobey any commands regarding his license. Not to mention, the officer ignored him TWICE when he said to run his name. To me that's an indication he doesn't have his license on him.
July 30, 201511 yr Was the car moving prior to the shot? I haven't been able to watch video on my computer yet, can't tell on my phone.
July 30, 201511 yr Was the car moving prior to the shot? I haven't been able to watch video on my computer yet, can't tell on my phone. I think the story is that it was rolling forward a little bit during the altercation, and then accelerated once DuBose was shot and dead.
July 30, 201511 yr I think the story is that it was rolling forward a little bit during the altercation, and then accelerated once DuBose was shot and dead. The only justification that I could see from what we know so far (and I am not saying this is what happened) would be if when the officer reached into the car and it looked like he and the victim were tussling, the victim grabbed his left arm and started to drive forward, making the officer think he was about to get drug down the road. If he felt Dubose had a hold of his arm and was starting to drive off, he may have feared for his life at that point.

That's a lot of thinking for about a second of time.
July 30, 201511 yr One thing we know for sure. The Officer did not really care about the front license plate. When he was told it was in the glove box and the driver attempted to retrieve it, the Officer did not even want to see it. If he really cared about it he would have checked to see if it matched the license plate on the rear. It could have been a stolen plate or one from the junkyard or it could have been legit. If it was legit either tell him to install it or write him a warning or cite him and it is done.

Didn't realize officers were supposed to listen to the commands of a potential law breaker. After all he told him TWICE.
July 30, 201511 yr Didn't realize officers were supposed to listen to the commands of a potential law breaker. After all he told him TWICE. The officer made several mistake during the stop. One of them was lingering on the fact that he didn't produce a driver's license. None of that justifies what happened.
