A writer who covers Murray says Zeke had been moved to TE.

That doesn't surprise me at all. If anyone remembers Zeke playing on Friday nights, he may have had the size and arm but never sold me on his qb'ing abilities. Shoot, his last 2 games he had something like 5-7 Int's. In his last he had 3 against Cooper alone.

 

I remember his JR year, whoever turned his stats in to a couple other sites they would never list his INT's and only his TD's and yards passing. It was a joke how they sold that kid.

I find OC Shannon Dawson's comments about QB situation after practice today very interesting. He seemed to have a difficult time providing a convincing answer on what ultimately put PT on top of the QB competition. From sifting through his comments, it seemed the only legit answer he provided was experience.

 

If that is truly the case, which I believe it probably is based off of all the positive reports from practice on Drew coming from both coaches and the media, it will be interesting to see what happens if PT slips a little during the season. How short of a leash will he have? Because based off of the comments, experience is the only factor separating the two. To me at least, this makes it clear Drew has the higher ceiling of the two players. And if that's the case, at what point does the experience card get thrown out the window?

On what put Patrick Towles over the top in the QB competition: "Really consistency. The kid, I mean, his efficiency is really high. Which, I say that and then if you look at (it) statistically, Drew's consistency's pretty high too. It's just that (Towles) is playing at a really high level. You factor in everything as far as experience, how he's matured since I got here -- and both of them really have -- (and) just the overall consistency of play: completion percentage, getting the ball to the right place and taking care of the ball, all of that factors in. But I say that, and it's not like Drew was playing bad. It was just, Patrick is playing really, really well."

I've never been a UK fan. But I hope they have a good season. I love a underdog.

Stoops doesn't want recruiting momentum to stop and have UK football, go back to UK football. Right now they have a chance to get to where South Carolina is presently. They have to go to a bowl, it's a must, tough to bet the future on a rookie who's had off the field trouble.

It's a win win for fans of NKY. We'll get to watch a local boy no matter what.

Quarterback is not the issue. Should be playing Barker for long term benefits now though.

I'm still going with Towles to start the game against Vandy, but the percentage he finishes the game against is down to 51% for me.

 

Ultimately Stoops has to go with the QB that gives him the best chance to win 2 more games and I would imagine he stays with Towles, but this may be the last season Towles is the starter.

I compare them to the 90's Bengals.. Until the offensive line stops getting beat up front and they have receivers that catch the ball. They could put Joe Montana in his prime under center and still suck
