He then went on to say when talking about both qbs that he is excited to watch them play, key word being them. Seems to me a few people on here have been saying for a few weeks that Barker would get snaps early in the year because they want to see him play in a game. Seems to me that this confirms it that Barker will get to play too. It is the decision that makes sense. You go with the guy with experience to start, and give the guy he was going toe to toe with some snaps to get some experience. It's a win win for both qbs and most importantly UK! I can't wait to watch them.

August 18, 201511 yr Author The backup QB is always one snap away from action, Stoops will keep him on his toes. Drew will see action this year, maybe in a few early game situations but mostly in the 4th Q.
August 18, 201511 yr Were you on the sidelines to hear the coaches say this? Not questioning if it happened just wondering where you heard this. Not next to them on the sidelines, but on the sidelines and talking to both coaches after practice.

August 18, 201511 yr Another thread showing the maturity level of some on here is no more than their shoe size. Expect that Pat will start and Barker will play 3rd or 4th series and then back to Pat and then Barker will get a series or two. The thought/hope would be that the first several games would allow the coaches to play both in varying situations to see what they have.
August 18, 201511 yr Well now that Towles has been named the starter I am looking forward to seeing his improvement and watching the Cats hopefully improve to a 6 win season. I'd have love to have seen Drew out there but I am ready for the season to start and watch the Cats. Still plenty of time for Barker to become the starter one day.
