Store Hill's Seed (Cov) Frisch's Drive Ins Roy Rogers, Burger Chef, Rax(liked it better than Arby's). Anybody remember Burger Queen in Ft. Wright? I remember when the Newport Shopping Center was THE PLACE to shop. Hoffman's and Mueller's, where I grew up.
June 3, 201511 yr Oldsmobile...I'd love to see a updated version of the 4-4-2 The old man was a big Olds guy. The first car he ever bought brand-new was a 1965 F85 with three on the column that eventually had its floorboard replaced by road signs I used to swipe back in my ne'er do well days. First car I drove was his 1976 98 Olds that was a land yacht with a massive 455 4-barrel engine. First time I ever drove over 100 was in that one, and it was like cruising on air. We called it The Bluesmobile. Also drove an old early-70s brown Olds station wagon. It became a great equipment room for everything. You needed a wiffle ball game? Call me — I've got everything. It burnt up randomly on the edge of town after I had picked up a couple of buddies. "Why is this thing smoking?" I was asked. "I don't know — I thought I grabbed pretty good rubber pulling out," was my reply. A casual lift of the floormat found flames shooting up. That was entertaining. They had three other Oldsmobiles over the years, two of which got handed down to my brother and I. Last one I had was a black Delta 88 from the late-80s whose transmission gave out — common problem with Oldsmobiles — one night when I was driving I-71 from Covington to my folks' place in Gallatin Co.
June 3, 201511 yr Burger Chef, VanLeunens, Steinbergs, Swallen's. I used to love to shop for car stereos when I was in high school. I went to the Roy Rogers on the east side of Cincy a couple of years ago, it has since closed. Still looked like something out of the 1960s
June 3, 201511 yr I also miss my '65 Merc. Raced a Vette across Clay Wade Baily bridge one night when it was first opened. Blew the doors off the Vette, when I hit the red light on the Ohio side, it stalled.

June 3, 201511 yr Author The Swallens on Red Bank road was THE place for records, FM converters (look it up youngsters) and speakers. Now it is just an abandoned building where some company trains semi truck drivers to drive in the parking lot. What was the name of the store that was next to Kohls in Florence and now has a Home Depot on the site? They used to sell books, games, VCR tapes, toys.......
June 3, 201511 yr .... Service Merchandise and G.D. Ritzy's were the first two that popped to mind. After reading the thread, Swallens and Rax can be added to the mix. Whatever that joint in front of Super Bowl was, I think it was a Burger Queen, it can be added as well.
