May 28, 201511 yr Please, MJ never did any wrong ever on the court. Reggie Miller could score 40 points on MJ and folks would still make up some excuse as to why it happened. Rex Chapman even lit up MJ for 28 points one night. Yes, MJ earned his reputation for shutting down the other team's best guard. My argument is that guards/forwards nowadays are a lot harder to guard than they were in MJ's days. I don't think Lebron has ever gotten the credit he deserves for his defense. Year in and year out his team's always are at the top of the best defenses in the league. That's not a coincidence. I think Jamelle Hill said it best when she said Jordan has become Paul Bunyan :lol2: I like Jordan but he had his warts and his idolization can be nauseating.

They are both tremendous basketball players and by the time LBJ's career is over I think it could be like splitting hairs to decide who was better. And when those hairs are split, this will always be part of my thinking, petty or not.
May 28, 201511 yr Pippen is the most disrespected player of all time. The second best perimeter player in the league when the Bulls were winning titles and nobody ever talks about him. There was a reason why Jordan won all of those all defensive titles. Pippen guarded Glen Rice, Dominique Wilkins, Barkley in his Sixers days, Penny Hardaway, Larry Nance, etc. He couldn't guard Magic because that would have placed Jordan on Worthy. Same with Drexler and Jerome Kersey. Jordan is great and arguably the best all time, but none of these titles are won without Pippen.

May 28, 201511 yr Author Don't know how to put it...that's the thing about intangibles, sometimes it's just that's something "extra" that's hard to explain or maybe even sometimes almost impossible to explain. But, some people have "it", and others don't. Best I can put it is, Jordan had an unwavering desire to not just beat, but punish the team in front of him and will his team to rally to the cause and do the same. And he would relentlessly come at you to do it, and get up in his teammates faces to make sure they did it too. Lebron just does not have this intangible. As for the Pistons you keep bringing up...Jordan made it his mission to get better so he could beat them. He decided he wasn't physically strong enough to handle the muggings that they doled out (which wasn't basketball, by the way) so he made it his primary goal to get stronger and physically tougher, which he did, which helped him to 6 titles. Sounds like Kobe. Couldn't disagree more. The Pistons got old when MJ got to the peak of his prime. Father Time beat the Pistons. Not MJ. Edited May 28, 201511 yr by PurplePride92
May 28, 201511 yr So the East was awesome in the mid 90s, Jordan left and the Bulls were still a 50 win team. The East is awful now, LeBron left and the Cavs were counting a LOT of ping pong balls. Is that what we've "agreed" on???
