My theory is that your life on BGP is nothing more than an alter ego. We get to live our lives without a lot of fear of personal rejection, and even if there is disagreement, rejection or disappointment, it doesn't hurt that bad in the virtual world. Message boards allow us to be who want to be, but because of societal rules may not be allowed to be in real life.

 

I'm am certain there are a lot of people on here that know me, but don't know my BGP persona and many more on here that have no idea of the connections between and amongst BGP'ers that I have.

 

The first BGP get together I ever attended was a little unnerving because I had to decide to reveal my real person to people that only knew my virtual person....a very different world to live in at times. Keeps me coming back

 

I'm glad that's all you revealed... I still have nightmares about how you started that conversation.

My dad and I came out to watch Mayfield/Graves in 2013 but it came a flood and the game was moved to Saturday. He and I ended up doubling back and stopping to watch Madisonville/Henderson.

My favorite are the people on here who I know who they are but they don't know who I am. Not that it's much of a secret. I think most people know my previous username more than this one. I've actually met or know quite a few posters and I've liked all of them.

 

Heck I hated @Watusi before I met him. He picked on me but we have a shared love of Vienna Sausages that we bonded over lol

 

@gametime I consider a close personal friend and I would have never met him if it wasn't for the site.

 

@mexitucky was a friend before. And remains so.

 

@theguru has seen me grow up lol. And now we have a good relationship, I've even done some work for him.

I have seen the GURU before but was afraid to talk to him. He was pretty busy at the time and bigger than me.

Last I remember (assuming I'm remembering correctly) he was living in Miami I think. @MJAlltheWay24 may know better though.

I remember Mak introducing himself to me at a CovCath / NewCath game in about 2002 or so, he was a senior, and had no shirt on and was covered in war paint.
