Hat wearers...how to you wear your baseball style cap?

Featured Replies

I'm a hat guy from way back and have a rather large collection of baseball style caps and visors as well. There are lots of different ways you can wear them. For instance:

Bill. flat bill; slightly curved; big curve; A-frame. Dome. High, medium or low rise? Fitted or adjustable? Do you wear it low on your head or high? Symmetrical or slightly askew one way of the other? Pulled down tight to cover your eyes or more "cocked back" on your head? You get the drift.

Me, I prefer a medium height dome and I put a big curve in the bill. Wear it pulled down on my head with bill covering my eyes, as symmetrical as I can get it. I prefer the "stretch" adjustable kind without the strap. My BluegrassPreps hat is like this, one reason it's one of my favorite hats.

Not sure about the dome, but I wear it with a medium curve. I tend to wear it the way it's most comfortable, which seems to usually be a bit cocked back, and ever so slightly to my right.

Has to be fitted. Usually split about 50/50 of whether I wear it forwards or backwards though. Been told by numerous ladies (wife included) that I look good with it on backwards. :idunno:

Which reminds me...to go along with the original question, how many of you wear it backwards and what % of the time?

Somebody once told me that the cap wearer's intelligence is directly proportional to how forward it is worn - the farther turned back, the more intellectually-challenged the wearer. I never took much stock in that.

Nevertheless, I don't care if it's fitted or not as long as it's comfortable. No flat bill for me, I will often put just a bit of extra curve in it. Like BigVixenMan, I really like the BGP strapless stretch version.

Medium curved stretched back for me.

Same. Flat billed is goofy and fit for a place for birds to land only.

I prefer to wear mine backwards but also told once you hit your 30s it is time to flip it around permanently. I always go cap backwards when I run. No clue why.

Medium to light curve on the bill, not pulled all the way down...you will see about half of my forehead. Never, never, ever backwards. My first day of college baseball practice was spent on how to wear the uniform and to properly wear the hat. This has always stuck with me. I can't remember where I heard it, but it makes sense, "where the hat in the direction your life is going".

I rarely wear hats now, but when I do, they have to be fitted.

I'm more of a visor wearer, I'm a big fan of the Nike visor that Neal Brown wore during his time at UK. I like a wider brim, and would like a higher crown, but that doesn't really matter that much.

As far as hats go, I want a stretch fit with a pretty fair amount of curve in the bill and a pretty low dome. And it's never backwards, because I think that looks bad on me. And I don't think you have to turn your hat forward at 30. I think it's much much sooner, maybe 16ish.

Mostly flat billed, or a very slight bend.

Depends on the hat and/or occasion on whether I wear it forwards or backwards.

Always fitted.

Fitted or Stretch Fit preferred...only wear adjustable when necessary (School Archery hats are adjustable, wear one to meets)

No Flat Bill...ever.

Used to wear one backwards some when I was a kid...now just while driving a boat or in any other instance where it could be blown off, then turn it around as soon as possible.

Little Known Hat Fact: You can not purchase your own "Lucky Hat"...a Lucky hat must be given to you preferably from a friend and never as a event present (ie Valentines, Birthday, Christmas)

Best fishing hat I ever had was an ugly Tennessee hat a friend gave me in college...no hat I ever bought was close to as good at catching fish as that hat was.

Little Known Hat Fact 2: If you color coordinate your hat color to your khaki shorts you are either an old man or a woman. :lol2:

I always wear a hat sometimes backwards, sometimes flat bill, I'm actually all over the board but 99% of the time I have a hat on.

Some clubs will not permit Flat Billed caps to be worn in them.

When I do wear a ball cap, I never wear it backwards and I would never wear a flat billed cap.

However, I don't wear a ball cap much anymore. You will usually see me in, what has become, my trademark USF fedora.
