February 11, 201511 yr Will he be buried with his towel? He should be. Man I miss those days in college hoops.
February 11, 201511 yr Tark the Shark. Chewing on the towel Never forget it with that bald head of his. Sad days that our kids dont ever get these types of coaches anymore to watch.
February 11, 201511 yr So are college basketball coaches like celeberties in that they usually die in threes? Might be some nervous coaches out there the next few days. I wouldn't go hunting with Bobby Knight anytime soon.
February 11, 201511 yr RIP Tark. He was a winner everywhere he went. He had a great "run and gun" team in '77 that took him to his first Final Four and his '87 team was pretty good as well. But I've seen few teams as good as the '90 and '91 UNLV squads.
February 11, 201511 yr 1991 UNLV team was the best team that never won a title. I loved Tark the Shark and the Runnin' Rebs! Tough week for Hall of Fame College Basketball coaches.
February 11, 201511 yr 1991 UNLV team was the best team that never won a title. I loved Tark the Shark and the Runnin' Rebs! Tough week for Hall of Fame College Basketball coaches. I rank it even with the 1975 Indiana Hoosiers. Very similar. In '90 UNLV wins it and then almost goes unbeaten to win it in '91 before a vengeful Duke upsets them. In '75 IU is 31-0 before a vengeful UK upsets them. '76 the Hoosiers go 32-0 to win it all.
