Cincy teams are sort of in a bind. Due to how their playoffs work (the Harbin system? is that what it is called?) they pretty much have to beat out of state teams and those have to be out of state teams who achieve good records for points purposes. So, back when the Cincy teams could reliably beat Trinity and also Trinity would reliably have a good record, they loved playing Trinity to help them in the play off points system. After Trinity started winning some of the Cincy games and then had a rough year in 2013, playing Trinity was just too risky. While I wish T could get a Cincy game a year, I don't blame the Cincy teams.

 

That makes sense although I, like you Bert, would love to see Trinity pick up a GCL team in 2017.

Regardless of who the ten opponents are, I have to believe that the staff is thrilled to have everything set 2 years in advance. Once T got really, really good it seemed like everyone had to wait until the last minute every year to know what the schedule was going to be. I actually thought they might end up doing like X and pay an opponent to play only at Marshall Stadium.

Trinity will crush Lafayette.

 

I commend the Generals for stepping up but after seeing them play the last couple of years they are no where near ready for this.

 

I would agree that Trinity will beat them, just not crush like you mentioned. Lafayette has a nice ball club, just wish they played them this past season. Come next year, Lafayette will not have too many play makers unlike this pass season like Lucky Jackson and D. Quincy ( gone WKU ). They will have a line and a Johnny Manziel type of QB, but no one to throw it to and running game will be a suspect.

Either way, I am glad to see another public high school take on the Rocks and if Lafayette wants to get a leg up in Lexington this is one way to work on it.

Trinity has quite a bit coming back, Junior class was strong. By my count we have 9-10 returning starters back on offense & 6-7 on defense. Should be strong in '15.

Trinity will face the Male/X/PRP/Butler/Manual district in the first three rounds of the playoffs. That adds a couple of more tough games to the slate.

Hopefully T can scedule another top of their class team like Highlands is the top of their class. I will miss the T vs FTH annual scrimmage.

Wow, I am very disappointed in this news, I really enjoyed my trip to Highlands this past season & the annual scrimmage.... With that being said, why not scrimmage Simon Kenton?! Nothing to lose for either team, just a scrimmage & it's great competition to prepare for the season! :thumb:

This is disappointing. If the 2 best programs in the state can't (or won't) play a real game this was the next best thing.

 

Any word on if they will continue playing sub-varsity games? I strongly doubt 3 of our new district opponents will.

Maybe the crybaby coach that got it all stirred up doesn't have the influence he once had.

with the Lexington public schools, the public/private issue was more to do with in-town privates than the rest of the state.

 

Believe me, there were plenty of coaches who were doing an end around to be able to play privates anyway.

 

Entering tournaments & requesting to play the private teams happened across the board in all sports. near impossible to do in football, but lets be honest, Lex public football hasn't been on that level to play a highly touted private in a little while.

I like that the Rocks have quite a bit coming back but that much on offense? Losing QB Ryan Young and RB Donald Brooks -- were the rest all Juniors? I think the defense will be solid as always.

I think that the Rocks are losing more than two on offense----more like 5 or 6 --- but I'm not sure. I am hopeful that Larry Harper has matured into a good QB. I'll br disappointed if he has not. I bellieve that Reed at running back will be quite a handful for opposing defenses. Rodjay Burns may have a great senior season.
