Considering that my family knows Trinity's athletic director, and he told my uncle that most KY teams didn't want to schedule Trinity, I'm pretty confident in that statement.

 

That being said, wishing for a single game to be different is hardly displays hypocrisy. I just enjoyed their series with those teams and would have liked one of those match ups to stick around. You seem to be taking my simple preference of a single game rather personally.

I understand why you would rather them play a Cincy or Indy team. I just think its funny that the excuse has always been because they couldn't get any ky trams to play them, then when they do

people wish they wouldn't.

PI am of the belief that T wouldn't schedule a Grant Co. or a Ludlow etc. if they offered if that meant giving up their out of state games because it wouldn't be a very competitive games and wouldn't help them in their hunt for the mythical National title.

Exactly. If Trinity has to choose between random KY team and quality OOS then the OOS will be the better option for competitive purposes. If it isn't a competitive program in 6A or a perennial powerhouse of another division then it probably isn't worth the trouble of Trinity scheduling them. Back then, Trinity's AD was tearing up his email and phone trying to book games and getting alot of no's so out of necessity he starting calling Cincy teams and called his son who has several contacts in the Nashville area for games. After the down year in 2013, KY teams seem to be reconsidering playing T. Those Trinity fans who are still saying no one in KY will play T are a little behind on their facts.

I myself find this schedule a little bit of a relief.... something like 12 out of our 16 games this past season including the Highlands scrimmage were ROAD games. Although I think the schedule beat us down in '13 it equally helped us in '14 & made us better because we had more experience on the squad. I won't mind not having to travel as much this season & it's still a great schedule no matter what anyone thinks, i guess I just see all sides of it.

Uh... no. Trinity doesn't have the ability to schedule whoever they want. Both teams need to agree to a game before it can be scheduled.

 

Simply put,

Competitive Instate > Competitive OOS > Non-competitive Instate > Non-competitive OOS

 

In 2011 when Trinity was getting National attention almost none of the Competitive instate teams wanted to play them. As I and Bert have alluded to Trinity's AD could not get those teams to put Trinity on their schedule. Thus he went to the next item on the list: competitive OOS and had to fill the schedule with those games.

 

We aren't 'blaming the rest of the state', just reporting why Trinity had that schedule.

 

Now, as Bert said teams are coming out of the woodwork to play Trinity and our AD is happy to fill the slots with them aside from a couple of OOS opponents that we very much enjoyed our games with. I would have liked an extra OOS game because if it had been in Cincinnati I would not have needed to travel to see it, or Indianapolis because I very much enjoyed the games we had with those schools.

I think that would be a great game year in and year out. I think the travel is what hurts. I know T is used to playing a lot of long distant games, but still 2 hour drives on Friday nights to get to a game aren't real fun.

Kentucky teams are not coming out of the woodwork to take on Trinity. Northern KY schools continue to stay off the grid. Kudos to Lafayette for stepping up. Same to Male (the fact they have won 2 of the last 4 and last season's freshmen game) and PRP (gate $$$ plus developing relationship in other sports) for adding Trinity to their schedules. We'll have to wait and see who steps up to scrimmage the Rocks.
