I like that the Rocks have quite a bit coming back but that much on offense? Losing QB Ryan Young and RB Donald Brooks -- were the rest all Juniors? I think the defense will be solid as always.

 

There are 5 Junior Olinemen that have been starters or have started at one point returning, 5 Junior WR's that are starters or have started returning, Junior starter RB Jalen Reed returning, even the anticipated starter at QB that was a soph this past season Larry Harper Jr has a few varsity starts under his belt.

On D, there aren't as many but at least 6 that started are returning, D will be solid.

Guess we could say there are a lot of returning players with experience as a starter -- whether they replaced someone for injury (or some other reason), or started the whole season. That is still a lot of valuable experience coming back. I think it was said correctly that leadership will be needed by the incoming seniors. Whether Harper or someone else leads this group on offense will also be a key early as the schedule is front end loaded. Think that will be interesting to watch during Spring ball. Go Rocks!!

Isn't that always necessary in order to have a successful season?? lol, no doubt the senior starters we had this past season were special & led the way, was the key for our success.

To me, although tough, Trinity's schedule is not as good going forward as it was in the past. JMHO.

It isn't. I think Trinity's down year in 2013 contributed to more teams stepping up. The biggest reason Trinity had to schedule the way they did was because no one would play them in KY anymore. While I mourn the loss of the impressive schedule that tested them like no other, some games that are likely to be a bit easier in the mix might help. Although moving out of the super district I would have probably tried to add one more tough out of state team. Keeping Male on the schedule though was a good thing.

It appears that KY's other "23 time State Champion" is now following Highlands and beginning to schedule more in state games than before at least in the last 5-10 yrs...

Its okay T, I am not suggesting that you are H or H is T but stating the obvious...

 

Nothing wrong with this, a good thing to dial it back a bit when needed but bottom line neither one of these titans will ever have a marginal season and won't be considered in talks about State Championships at the beginning or in the end...JMO

It is confirmed that Fort Thomas Highlands has opted not to continue scheduling the scrimmage with Trinity.:idunno:

I agree. I'm not disparaging any teams on the schedule, but I hope we don't see any of those 59-7

games. All in all, with the exception of 2013, I think the tough out-of-state cpmpetition has been good. BTW, how long has the running clock been a rule?

When you have to play the four teams in your district, then traditional games vs X and Male (neither of them an easy game), then you schedule two out of state games vs good teams, then PRP (a good team) steps up and wants to play that does not leave a whole lot of space to play a "national schedule". In my opinion this is high school -- they don't need to be running all over the country to play. To me it is more important what happens at the end of the season than what happens during. Play the area teams first, if not enough of them want to play, then in state teams, and if they won't then go somewhere else. Its great that the Rocks found a lot of good local and in-state competition to fill in the blanks. Looking forward to next season already!!

Trinity really only had a national schedule because most Kentucky teams wouldn't schedule them. Now that they are out of the super district, they have four required games against teams they didn't typically play. The St. X and Male games are traditional and a high level of competition. Both Tennessee games are National caliber. That only leaves two possible games left. PRP is on the rise and looking to toughen themselves against the best teams in the state so I'm good with that choice. Lafayette on the other hand ...

 

I applaud them for picking up the slack and challenging Trinity, but at the same time I'd have rather that slot have gone to a Cincinnati or Indianapolis powerhouse.

 

On the whole, I think 2015 will be a good year for the Rocks. Lee Harper will be a good quarterback, and there are plenty of juniors with experience on the field going into their senior season.

Then when they do you sit here and complain saying you wish they didn't schedule Lafayette and instead should have scheduled a Cincinnati or Indy team instead.

 

That kills me everytime. I will never buy into the excuse 100% teams in ky are afraid to schedule the T's and H'sif the state. It could partially be true abut at the same time quit making those claims and then be upset when a school you don't feel is up to their standard does schedule them.

Considering that my family knows Trinity's athletic director, and he told my uncle that most KY teams didn't want to schedule Trinity, I'm pretty confident in that statement.

 

That being said, wishing for a single game to be different is hardly displays hypocrisy. I just enjoyed their series with those teams and would have liked one of those match ups to stick around. You seem to be taking my simple preference of a single game rather personally.
