Does Lane Kiffin Keep His Job?

Featured Replies

Lane isn't going anywhere unless he gets a head coaching position.

He did a really good job this year with a first year QB. The problem to me, is that he has such a huge ego and hates Urban Meyer he simply go too cute tonight with the playcalling. Urban wasn't going to let Cooper beat him deep. I thought that the Bama OL was controlling the OSU DL. They had really controlled Bosa for most of the night. Henry was getting huge chunks of yardage from the get go. Yet Kiffin still tried to do a bunch of stuff in the pass game. I would have thought they could have hammered the run to open up the pass game.

Especially after the terrible punt that OSU had in which set up Bama inside the 30. Henry was averaging 8 yards per carry. In addition, his play calling didn't help his defense out any.

I think ego got the best of him tonight and he just didn't stick with the run and hammer it at OSU.

Sims is a scrub. That kid is the best QB in the SEC too...

Ironically their secondary is coached by Saban. They may have a DB coach in name but the guy that runs the show in their DB Indy is Saban.

The secondary forced two turnovers, also, no?

The secondary didn't throw the pick 6 in the short field. They didn't get man-handled on the 85 yard run to seal the deal, either.

There is plenty of blame to go around.

True on all accounts. The better team won. That's all that could be said.

Can't hang this one on Lane Kiffin or the Alabama offense.

Their defense got gashed!

I don't ever...matter of fact, I'm almost positive that I've never gotten on here and questioned a coach about whether or not he should keep his job..high school or college, but that was terrible.

Yes Bama gave up 42. Yes, they scored 35. But the fact that Yeldon and Henry only touched the ball a total of 23 times is absolutely beyond me.

Go back to the Auburn game, the 2nd half, Bama and Kiffin got back down to business (ran the rock and play action). They pounded it, pounded it, pounded it and then went for broke when they threw it. By the end of that game, Auburn's guys were playing ole' the bull, getting out of their way & Cooper was leaving dudes in his dust. Tonight, on their next to last scoring drive they went Cooper, Henry on a screen, Yeldon on a nice run and Sims on a designed QB Iso run up the gut= Score. It was vintage Alabama.

I don't know. I try not to play hindsight 20/20 or armchair QB (boring, I know), but the play calling tonight just bothered me to no end. I think Saban bringing in Kiffin was a smart move, and still can. He brought in aspects of the game that they needed (ability to go no huddle and Tempo things up a bit, etc), but at the end of the day..Alabama got away from who they are a few times this year and tonight epitomized that.

I'll say it once gain....Henry and Yeldon had 23 COMBINED rushes. That's flat out ridiculous.

With that said, OSU deserved every bit to be here and they proved it. They have the players everywhere and Urban is a mastermind (proves it more and more every year).

The first caller on the Alabama postgame show hammers Kiffin for his inconsistency.

It's like I was watching a Bengals game. Run the ball. Then run some more, then let Cooper get loose. Terrible play calling.

I thought Kiffin was a good consistent and methodical play caller throughout the regular season and really ran his offense to his teams strengths, getting Cooper as many extra touches as possible, etc. Today I did not see much of that and think his play calling today, and mainly the last couple drives could have cost him his job at Bama.

Should be fired for not running the ball after the 20 yard punt from OSU

Are we talking about the Kiffin whose offense averaged 37 points a game, and scored 40+ eight times this year?

Is this a serious question? Only way he isn't back is if he gets a HC job, or interest from an NFL team.

If it's not, it should be. He is a terrible play caller.
You very much let your personal opinion of matters affect your objectivity. Its very transparent.
