Does Lane Kiffin Keep His Job?

Featured Replies

Coaches everywhere are allowed to make mistakes. Coaches everywhere are allowed to be wrong. Per TheDeuce Lane Kiffin gets a crappy quarterback, puts up 37 points a game, scores over 40 points in 8 games and turns a usually boring Alabama offense into something credible on offense in one year's time. Puts up 35 points in a playoffs game and his job is called into question because they didn't run the ball more? Is this real? Is he not allowed to see something in the defense and not try to exploit it? Didn't Bama just send their WR to the Heisman Trophy festivities? I bet the same people saying he should have ran the ball more would be saying "why didn't he get the ball to Cooper more" had he ran it more.

Just say you hate Lane Kiffin and move on. To act like he should be fired is asinine.

So the coach that led the offense to 35 points needs to go and the coach whose defense gave up 42 is safe? Solid logic. Hope none of you guys get into AD roles...

You very much let your personal opinion of matters affect your objectivity. Its very transparent.

And very intentional.

I'm going to say no, thoughts?

What about the Defensive Coordinator in two of last 3 games (Auburn and last night) Alabama gave up almost 1200 yards.

Also Saban is now 8-8 in bowl games while Myer is 8-2

Are we talking about the Kiffin whose offense averaged 37 points a game, and scored 40+ eight times this year?

I'm just curious as to if you watched the game. Because if you did and you know football, which I think you do even though you're a Louisville fan ;), you would know why his job is being questioned. Completely dropped the ball with the play calling on the big stage last night but who is surprised? When was the last time Kiffin won something of significance?

After the fumble he called the perfect play and their QB made a TERRIBLE throw. He can throw it anywhere from the receiver to the back corner of the end zone. He throws it backside and gets picked.

How many screens and draws did he call on 3rd down after throwing it on 1st and 2nd? Multiple! In crucial parts of the game! Sorry but it drove me crazy.

I watched the game where his offense scored 35 points, and the defense gave up 42... Is that the game you're referring to? Are they firing the Defensive Coordinator too?

That's what happens when you convert a RB into a QB. I thought and still think that Coker is the best QB on the roster, Kiffin just thought that Sims fit the offense better due to his athleticism.

Did you pay attention to the play calling? And didn't OSU have a defensive touchdown too, so actually their defense gave up 35. For the record for whoever said the play action after the fumble was a perfect play call, yes he was open but a lot of people are going to take a shot at the end zone there so I definitely don't think they caught OSU off guard. Pound the football that's always Bama's advantage and I don't know why they went away from it so much especially in the 3rd and 4th quarters.

Lane isn't going anywhere unless he gets a head coaching position.

He did a really good job this year with a first year QB. The problem to me, is that he has such a huge ego and hates Urban Meyer he simply go too cute tonight with the playcalling. Urban wasn't going to let Cooper beat him deep. I thought that the Bama OL was controlling the OSU DL. They had really controlled Bosa for most of the night. Henry was getting huge chunks of yardage from the get go. Yet Kiffin still tried to do a bunch of stuff in the pass game. I would have thought they could have hammered the run to open up the pass game.

Especially after the terrible punt that OSU had in which set up Bama inside the 30. Henry was averaging 8 yards per carry. In addition, his play calling didn't help his defense out any.

I think ego got the best of him tonight and he just didn't stick with the run and hammer it at OSU.

I agree. Kiffen may be a good offensive coordinator, but he likes to make it about him instead of the team. The Tide also needed to run the ball more to keep their D off the field.

Did Kiffin call a perfect game? Most agree he did not... Doesn't mean he deserves to be fired. That's ridiculous. They scored 35, that should win you a football game, period.

I thought he gave quite a few scoring opportunities get away from him last night because of some calls. I mean really? A QB draw and HB screen on back to back 3rd down and longs down a score in the fourth quarter? Cmon man. They may not have been back to back but those are two plays that are jumping out to me in my mind right now. I understand tha shot to the end zone but you gotta know if you're QB can make that throw accurately on the boot like that and he didn't.

As many "mistakes" as you want to point out, they still scored 35. That should be enough to win you a game. If it isn't, you are questioning the wrong coordinators job...

I thought Lane Kiffin was terrible last night and most of the season and the hardcore Alabama fans seem to agree. The fact that Henry only had 13 carries is almost pink slip worthy in itself.
