Indiana shot lights out last night and still lost by 20. Offense did look improved, still a LONG way to go though. While they didn't play their best defense of the season, it's not expected for Louisville to continue holding people to 40 points a game in the meat of their schedule, that's just not realistic.

I saw a retweet on Twitter last night where some Hoosier fan said something to the tune of "Doesn't Louisville know they are still little brother?" And yes, he was talking about to Indiana. :lol2: I guess I missed that memo, seeing as UofL has now won 9 straight meetings against IU, not to mention they NEVER play anymore. I never knew IU fans hated Louisville so much.

Offense was improved and exploited IU's obvious weaknesses.

 

Impressed greatly with Rozier & Jones coming off mediocre efforts against OSU.

Trez is Trez. Just a MAN that is fun to watch..

Blackshear has to decide if he is going to make the 3 from Kuric's Corner. If yes, get better at it because it will be there a ton with Jones / Rozier penetration. If not, drive the ball to resistance and either shoot or pass. Liked the few times he did that and the resulting elbow / lane jumpers or interior passes for chippies.

Mathiang had some solid minutes & changed some momentum on both ends of the floor.

Mahmoud continues to develop and has been a pleasant surprise.

Onuaku got lost in the shuffle tonight. Need his presence.

 

Defense was awful. Perhaps Pitino wanted to force them to continue to play man-to-man because he didn't feel threatened with a loss based on how easily they were converting on the offensive end. It will give him lots of teaching opportunities in practice & on film to play m-t-m better when they need it in the future. By March they will be a predominantly zone team with a few different looks to throw off opponents. Quickness on the top of the 2-3 (but not that much length) and the way they rotate will prevent teams from simply shooting over it.

 

IU is a terrible rebounding team, but I suspect UofL will end up being a pretty good rebounding team themselves. With the help of Rozier & Jones WANTING to rebound on the defensive end, the desire of Trez to go get balls on both ends and the length of the rest of the frontcourt, they will get their share. Vitale even commented that their offense was basically "shoot and if it doesn't go in, get the offensive board & stickback." When that is the case, it frees up shooters to be less concerned about misses (because a missed shot creates another offensive opportunity).

 

Finally, they are fun to watch. Lots of enthusiasm. They seem to "get it" earlier in the season than some of Pitino's teams. That is, in large part, due to the leadership / experience of Jones, Rozier, Blackshear & ESPECIALLY Trez. Work hard on the defensive end and the offense will come. Don't work hard on the defensive end and sit with Pitino and other and watch somebody else work hard on the defensive end.

I think that many of us can agree here that Indiana fans are very lame.

Madison Square Garden. I almost wish Louisville could play every game there. Cards have won nine straight in NYC since losing the 2011 Big East Championship Game to UConn.

IU fans hate everyone these days.

 

They did take the lead early in the second half. I'm sure Crean has some type of ring ceremony in the works.

Oh yeah. My Aunt who is a huge Cards fan works with some IU folks. They loathe UL.
