Ranking committee is a joke

Baylor Non-Conf Games Buffalo (5-6 in American Football Conf), SMU (1-11 in the AAC), Northwestern State (6-6 in the Southland)

Ohio St. Non-Conf Games Navy (6-5 Independent), Va Tech (6-6 in ACC), Kent St (2-9 in the MAC), Cincinnati (9-3 in the AAC)

TCU Non-Conf Games Samford (7-4 in the Southern Conf), Minnesota (8-4 in the Big 10), SMU (1-11 in the AAC)

Ohio St wins the Non-Conf discussion easily.

Bottom line for me on this is I feel the committee got it right. I like the final four. And I like the Big 12 blowing it for a couple reasons. One, they tried to game the process and got burned. Two, it may cause them to add 2 teams to get to a conference championship game which opens the door for UC to get into a better conference.

Side note ... Big 12 has 10 teams and Big 10 has 12? ... :lol2:

Ohio St. gets in because they are a traditional power from the Big Ten. They will bring the crowd and the money. How does TCU go from 3rd to 5th with a 55-3 win? College football remains a joke in the post season. Its great all the way up until then.

Who cares about the non-conference schedule. No one played anyone any good and Ohio State lost to Virginia Tech, who is awful. How does that help Ohio State? When you can't even beat all your cupcakes at HOME!

Ohio State beat a conference champion in one of their non-conference games? They beat Cincy. bad.

3rd to 6th

Here is a stat:

Ohio State is 12-1. Three of those 13 teams (or 23%) have a losing record (Kent State, Indiana, and Michigan).

Baylor is 11-1. Five of those 12 teams (or 42%) have a losing record (SMU, Buffalo, Iowa State, Kansas, Texas Tech).

TCU is 11-1. Four of those 12 teams (or 33%) have a losing record (SMU, Texas Tech, Kansas, Iowa State).

Body of work.

The only thought about non-conference, in this case, is that it can be used to potentially determine which conference is stronger when you need a deciding factor. Big 12 teams beat Big 10 teams 3-0 this season, I believe. Maybe this is worth considering, but I don't think the committee gave this much weight.

Jeff Long basically said the biggest factor was that OSU had a 13th game. Big 12 has to add two teams and get a title game.

That will not happen until Texas shares the wealth in the Big 12 Conference.

I don't think the Big 12 will have trouble getting two teams. They would have trouble trying to get a name team, like a BYU or Notre Dame or any team from another top conference. For an opportunity to get a crack at Playoff shared revenues from the conference or potential National Championship money, teams would line up to get out of a small conference and get to the Big 12, I bet.

OSU had a better OOC schedule, but they lost to their marquee opponent in VT at home. That throws that argument out of the window right there. The Big 12 was a better conference than the Big 10. Therefore by "winning" the Big 12, Baylor/TCU should have made it over OSU. I'm not mad though because all 3 teams will get steam rolled by Bama IMO.

I think your also onto something, they picked the team who they think can give Bama a shot. TCU and Baylor give up 60 points to each other, I'd actually gave Bama by 35 vs either.

There was no way Baylor/TCU was going to score more than 21 against Bama. And I'd think they wouldn't even come close to stopping that offense which has become one of the best in the country now. OSU won't score as much as either of those teams would, but could at least slow down Bama's offense.

Committee just hosed the ACC.

Neither team played this week but somehow Miss. St. jumped Mich St. in the rankings. Looks like ACC losing its Citrus Bowl spot to Big Ten.

ACC has been hosed and crapped on all year.

I know that I am tired of hearing everyone say "they passed the eye ball test". It has become my new phrase to cringe at, I do not know if it surpasses "they do not have enough Jimmy's and Joe's", which is at the top of my cringe list!
