Trinity 47 Dixie Heights 14 (Class 6A State Championship)

Featured Replies

Why didn't Dixie play ANY reserves once Trinity made wholesale personel changes? A 94-yard TD pass versus Trinity second team. That's going to bring a scholly offer to Moore? Garbage time rushing yards versus Trinity second, third and fourth string? Onside kick with running clock? Really? 62 players and 2/3rds didn't play? Enjoy 5A.

Dixie won't enjoy 5A. They've been losing to Highlands for 100 years. Covcath 41 Dixie 7. That was this year and Covcath was weak. I think Dixie had a nice team, but if they were in 4A this year, they would have turned in the equipment weeks ago like they had in the past. IMO there's only 3-4 good teams in Kentucky. Trinity and Highlands being 2 of them.

Trinity was obviously the better team and deserved to win...congrats to Trinity. On a positive note, Highlands lost to Trinity 49-2 and I think Dixie could beat Highlands but we'll never know since that was the best Dixie team they'll ever have. The numbers Moore put up against that defense is insane.

I have no issue with the late score. Let the kids have a positive.

The first DH score was adrenalin and that only lasts so long. Once it was gone DH was just out gunned. As we tried to say DH was going to face the best D they faced this year and they wouldn't be able to beat Trinity by just running the ball. When Trinity stopped the run and they had to throw the ball you could tell they were out of their comfort zone. An effective passing game has to me meticulously practiced and used in games or stuff like dropped passes and errant throws occur.

As to the T offensive effort once again we tried to tell people (and were called arrogant for it) that T's balanced approach would overwhelm DH.

I looked at Highlands and Trinity's schedules and they didn't play. If you're looking at scrimmage scores it wasnt 49-2 and i doubt either team would play 10-12 lineman and 25 different guys on D during a real game. The scrimmage from Highlands viewpoint is to find out who can play and who can't. What better gauge than to see who can play vs Trinity. But if it makes the Red Colonels feel better, have at it. This Highlands fan was rooting for you, but went in knowing Dixie didn't have a signature win all season.

Congrats to T on their return from the dead. :D

Dixie, you had a special year that while it didn't end the way you wanted, it will become more dear to you in future years. Well done.

Congrats to the Shamrocks on the win. Trinity has a fantastic football team. QB Young was a very good field general last night. Didn't make mistakes and that throw off balance across his chest to a covered WR will leaped out of coverage in stride to make a very good catch for a TD...... Well if you can't tell I thought that was phenomenal and you don't see many plays like that often at the high school level. #19 is a remarkable athlete. Created space often, was patient, has great vision for a RB/QB/WR. On defense #8, #91 were fun to watch. Trinity game planned well for us and their coaches staff is to be commended.

Thanks to the Dixie Heights Colonels for taking us on a great journey this season. Week in- week out they continued to develop and exceed expectations. They leave a great legacy: 13-2, District, Regional, Semi-Final champs, and State Runner-Up. Be good to yourselves, and each other in the hours and days ahead. Certainly not the note they wanted to end their hs football careers on. We're proud of all of you and believe in your future success in the "game of life." Football mimicks life and the same qualities you exemplified all season on and off the football field will serve you well. It's a great day to be a Dixie Heights Colonel...:thumb:

PS...Thanks to the Highlands Birds players and coaches who wished us well after their game. And congrats to the Birds on a great comeback and victory yesterday!!!

Congrats to T on #23

Trinity is a machine and as someone else mentioned earlier your level of competition prepares teams in the end and the "been there done that" factor doesnt hurt either

Congrats to Dixie as they made NKY proud...these types of games give you something to build on :thumb:

Glad Foos played really good his mom very proud she is a SK grad!

Play this game 100 times Trinity wins 99, it's a mismatch.

Congrats ROCKS - super game and super season. Solid team of overachievers. Liked the comment about no superstars or Div. I players - just an outstanding HS Championship team. BEst coaching staff around. From HC to every Assistant.

It never gets old.

Congrats as well to DH on their season. Great accomplishment to them and their program. I know they have great kids and fans.

Just on a different level.

The old "numbers argument" - is just so dismissive . Looked to me the respective squads were about equal. Size disparity went to DH.

Again - CONGRATS ROCKS.

Way to go ROCKS!

Congratulations to the Colonels on an outstanding season.
