Crazy to think going in to the final week, the most certain thing we know is that TCU will be one of the Final Four teams. Iowa State is terrible. I still look at TCU as a cinderella, mid-major type even though I know they are in the Big 12. Kind of rooting for them.

Then maybe Baylor shouldn't have lost by two touchdowns to West Virginia, a team TCU beat on the road. Put the three teams in a bucket and TCU is tops on aggregate point differential. None of this happens in a single-game vacuum and TCU has just been better throughout the season.

 

Baylor's got their chance coming. While TCU's playing Iowa State, Baylor gets a big opportunity against K-State.

No, they don't have a win the equivalent of Alabama, this is not disputed. of course, as you're pointing out, that helped them make a leap up in rankings.

 

Which is why I mentioned the competition factor. I don't know how last year's Auburn compares to this year's FSU. FSU has been hurt lately by factors beyond their control. ND has hurt them badly. Louisville may have hurt them with the close win over UK. I'm not sure how their other opponents are doing recently. I really don't know what people take into account.

Auburn was number 4 last year going into the Bama game, same as FSU is now. Have no idea how their schedule stacks up against FSU's this year.

Comes with the territory especially when you return a Heisman trophy winner. Standards are higher when you are a champion. Welcome to the club. FSU set their own bar. And I didn't say they had to look as good, just somewhere in between. It is impressive they are undefeated. But they are about as unimpressive of a undefeated team you will find.

 

Personally, I'm not saying they should be #1. I think they should be #3. I do not disagree that they have won some games unimpressively - BUT THEY'VE WON. It's practically an art form at this point. I do think it is lame for people to say "this isn't last year" but to hold it against them. While simultaneously using that to prop up other entities.

 

The post you were originally responding to of mine was a more a reaction to the concept that they're moving down because the committee is sending a message about SOS. That's bunk. If they're moving down for performance, fine. But SOS being the reason is a myth and is not a reason they deserve to be behind TCU. And while I'm not angry about it, I believe there is little justification for moving them behind TCU at all.

They have. But not when it mattered - when they played each other. Head-to-head should count for something.

 

Heck, I've heard the talking heads go on about TCU losing a 21-point lead in that game. Like they really were much better but lost by a fluke.

Baylor lost that game in mid-October. The season didn't end that day either. Baylor also lost to WVU the week after they had an emotional come from behind win against TCU. Let down game? Trap game? TCU only beat WVU by a point also and they had to come from behind to win that as well. Last second FG wasn't it? Then they barely beat Kansas a mere two weeks ago?!?!?!

Bama and FSU should be 1-2 just like the BCS format would have had it.

 

I hated this whole committee thing from the beginning for the reason of not have a small group of people choosing who gets in.

 

I still say the BCS format put the two most deserving teams in it each year, and it would have put the 4 most deserving in this year. And, in the proper order.

They've proven to be one of the best second half teams in the nation. You need to have at least a 17 point lead on them at halftime to feel safe. They've erased so many deficits. I knew they were going to beat Florida when they went into halftime with the lead.

 

Well that and the SEC sucks and the ACC owns the SEC.

I couldn't care less about TCU or Baylor...I have no dog in the fight and hope OSU gets in ahead of both of them. I will say this though. If Baylor beats KSU and finishes the season 11-1 (the same record as TCU) and beat them on the field (which they did), it will be a complete injustice to Baylor if TCU gets in over Baylor...one of the worst ever. The eye test and game control junk that people spout should only be used when the #1 tie-breaker (head to head) is not available. In this case, it is available and has to be used. How do you tell the Baylor players that they won the conference and beat TCU and yet TCU is in and they are not...total joke...

Trap game? Playoff teams are better than trap games.

 

TCU lost by three on the road to Baylor.

 

TCU beat West Virginia on the road by one.

 

Baylor lost to West Virginia on the road by 14.

 

Don't understand why this is supposed to be impossible to figure out.
