The disrespect towards FSU is comical at this point... I almost hope they are left out after beating GT, so we can go ahead and write off this four team system.

I agree too, weak. Herm Edwards needs to give a talk to the committee... "You play to win the game."

I'm not even mad about this, as long as FSU actually gets in with a win over Georgia Tech. And I think it would be in their best interest to do so. It would be a black eye year one if they left out an undefeated team as highly rated as FSU. There'd be a chance that a media poll could create a split national champion year 1.

 

Also, I personally think FSU would rather play Bama in New Orleans than Oregon in Pasadena.

 

Lastly, the standard they're holding FSU to, then IMO there's no reason Oregon shouldn't have jumped Alabama by now. After all, Oregon's top win is now better than Bama's (Michigan State over Mississippi State), their loss is better (Arizona over Ole Miss), and they have the same amount of top 25 wins (and each of Oregon's are more highly rated than the corresponding win for Alabama).

 

On the other hand as of today Bama has the number four strength of schedule vs Oregon's 37.

 

I think FSU should be second but bottom line is that the teams just have to make the top four, then it's up to them. I don't see FSU missing out on the party.

Strength of schedule matters. If it doesn't then Marshall should have been ranked in the top 10 when they were undefeated at 10-0. Top teams SOS:

My beef with SOS is that there are still human factors determining strength of schedule. I'll always feel that too much emphasis is put on SOS when looking at teams from the power conferences.

Baylor and TCU played the same teams. Baylor beats TCU. Baylor is behind TCU in the playoff rankings. That's asinine.

OK, I will play along for the fun of it. I will add in that Ohio State and Baylor also lose.

 

Alabama loss to Missouri .... Alabama remains #1 (everyone has 2 losses)

Oregon loses to Arizona ... Arizona jumps over them into the top 4

TCU loses to Iowa St. ... no way this happens, but if it does TCU drops big

FSU loses to Ga. Tech ... FSU still in top 4 as the only one loss team - I say they go to #2

OSU loses to Wisconsin ... they are out for sure, especially with the QB situation

Baylor loses to K. State ... K. State into the top 4 at #4

 

I make the final 4 in that crazy scenario:

 

1. Alabama

2. Florida St.

3. Arizona

4. Kansas St.

 

Very tough call for #4 but I think the top 3 are certain in your everyone loses scenario.

The number one thing we ask teams to do is just win. FSU has done that. We don't have the requirement they have to win by XX to be the best- we say just win. Also there isn't a requirement that they have to play the toughest schedule - just beat Everyone you play.

 

Yes Marshall got raw deal but this is what the Power 5 want - they only want the power 5 in.
