I'll be more pumped up for this FSU/GTech game than any FSU/GTech game ever in the history of their series. If GTech wins the commitee will say, "see" and I'll be super hot. Super hot if the committe looks good over any of this crap they've put out this year. At the same time I hope all 4 teams lose this week. I'm so confused. :lol2:

My beef with SOS is that there are still human factors determining strength of schedule. I'll always feel that too much emphasis is put on SOS when looking at teams from the power conferences.

 

I disagree. SOS is determined by facts - who you beat and who they beat. I think the committee is telling teams they better schedule up out of conference and I like that. I think SOS is a big factor that should always be considered when comparing teams.

I think the fact that FSU keeps getting jumped has to work in their favor as extra motivation. Now it has become flat out disrespect, though FSU has been unimpressive and you can argue they have earned their ranking.

2) How do you evaluate the head-to-head win for Baylor over TCU, but the gap in the rankings between the two continues to increase in the favor of TCU?

3) The havoc scenarios are cool to think about. Of the top 4, TCU is about the only sure thing to win. But let's say Bama and FSU lose, what happens? Does Bama make it by default? If Arizona wins, do they move in to the top 4?

1. Of course. The committee was disappointed that MSU lost last weekend. They burned their Florida gear and their MSU gear at the same time.

 

2. Exactly. The committee is horrible and inept.

 

3. Bama definitely makes it. FSU will drop to #10 in the rankings and Georgia Tech will drop to #16 for beating FSU. If Arizona wins I have no clue what will happen. They'd be deserving of #4 but that doesn't mean they would get it.

I'm not buying into the media hype. I'm buying into the head-to-head hype. They play the same conference teams and don't have a conference tournament. Baylor lost to a conference opponent that TCU defeated. They played head-to-head and Baylor beat TCU. That's not right.

 

Who had a tougher SOS last year? Auburn or FSU? Who won head-to-head? SOS is a faulty and overused method to determine how good teams are and teams are unfairly punished as a result.

There is. While it is a formula, there are factors within it from human rankings.

Not saying I agree with the rationale, but TCU's loss to Baylor was in Waco. TCU lost by 3 after leading by 17 going in to the 4th quarter. If you give any points for having a home game, you can argue that was, in effect, a tie and no team distinguished itself from the other.

I can't post the original word I thought so I'll shorten it to BULL. Florida State scheduled three teams from the other Power 5 conferences + Notre Dame. The entirety of the SEC West scheduled four combined. The entire SEC gets mega boosts on their SOS and so schedules no one OOC. You can't predict what a team will be like years in advance when you have to make these schedules. FSU tried, and yet are still getting hammered for playing cupcakes. They can't change who their conference is or who it is perceived to be.

 

TCU's big OOC opponent was Minnesota. Don't give me this message crap.
