Dixie might be able to hang with Trinity in the first few minutes.

I am torn between who I would like to see win here. I am an NKY guy but usually root for my Catholic brethren. But I would love to see Coach Brossart get the win here. He has really changed the mindset at Dixie. Years ago I was in Dixie's locker room. They literally had a plaque on the wall celebrating their 04' 2ND ROUND win over Trinity. This is a few years after that too. They had larger plaques commemorating 6-4 and 7-3 win seasons that said 4th place N.K.A.C. on them. I thought it was kind of embarrassing to celebrate so much mediocrity. I have been told that Brossart has changed all that. This is not your older brothers Dixie Colonels that were full of miscues and bad technique. This team will run it right down your throat and gang tackle on defense. This senior class took their lumps as sophomores, improved leaps and bounds as juniors, and are close to the top of the mountain as seniors. Dixie CAN win this game. I would be surprised by a large Dixie win but nothing else would surprise me. Best of luck to both teams.

Point differential, etc. are used by Litkenhous. As of 11/24 Litkenhous had Dixie Heights rated exactly the same as duPont Manual.

Trinity was rated number 1.

 

Cantrall ratings had Trinity rated slightly higher than the "Red" Colonels. Cantrall's system: only Louisville Central and Owensboro pulled upsets.

 

Litkenhous:4 upsets-the two mentioend above and Williamsburg and NewCath.

Their record might have been good, but they were not a solid squad. Unlike the guys in NKY we know a record can hide a paper tiger.

 

I promise Dixie isn't the NKY paper tiger of recent seasons. I've felt that most of the bigger teams down Louisville has been significantly better than NKY. The way they have played since the last few weeks before the playoffs has been like they are on a mission.

Dixie is very disciplined. They are well coached. Their offensive and defensive lines are mean and nasty... and play the whole game with a high motor.

 

I have no doubt that Trinity is battle tested and a very, very good team.

 

We honestly have no idea just how good this Dixie team truly is. This game will tell.

 

Win or lose, I do not think Dixie will let Trinity off easy.

This is probably true. Dixie doesn't have the financial luxury to travel around multistates for games. These kids are well coached and have tons of heart and talent. It may take a near perfect injury free game to have a chance to keep up with the Rocks, but it has been done. I'll be there, Almighty willing, to cheer my guys on and no matter what happens I'll give them a standing ovation. The Dixie Heights Colonels earned this trip. Don't take them lightly.

So how does this game prove H is #2 and X is 3? Is H playing Trinity and did X play Dixie?

 

The logic used by many is very flawed when it comes to HS football.

I think people are getting way ahead X and H are irrelevant at this point. DH has earned the right to be here and should be respected for what they have accomplished and may yet accomplish. I have made no secret that I think that a weak schedule is a disadvantage for DH. That doesn't mean it can't be overcome. Trinity will prepare for this game as if they are playing for the title against the best opponent available in all of Kentucky. They are.

i don't understand why some always feel the need to list who is better than others when it is pure speculation and especially when it is talking about teams in other classes. Maybe it's just the insecurity of some that feel the need to blow their teams own horn just to keep them in the conversation. If for instance Highlands thinks they are the 2nd best team in the state, then play and beat every 6A and 5A team in the state, until then juust be happy with the best in 4A. Same for any team in any class period. The 6A title will be decided by Trinity and Dixie Heights, that is all that matters for those 2 schools and all that should matter.
