Definitely agree with you about Beau over Houliston. Not to take anything away from Drew, he was a truly great passer, but Beau is special; literally calls plays on the field and Brian lets him run with it because of the feel he has for the game. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't Beau have only been sophomore when McCoy was playing? If my memory serves me correctly, I'm sure Beau definitely had the mental tools to perform, but he was physically not ready to play as a sophomore, IMO.

I said Jr & Sr year....Noway Beau could of played his Soph year but his Jr. year he was a product of the system. It is what it is....

And by no means am I insulting Beau's staure as a sophomore, I just know he made a HUGE jump physically between his 10 and 11 years; and then even more between 11 and 12.

Agree....

But Beau's mental preparedness as a Jr & Sr were unmatchable. Sit down with Beau sometime. It's scary what the kid sees and and how he worked to see where his physical statue has come in just 2 year is ridiculous. That's why he is playing at the next level at a "High" level. A D1 QB for sure.....

Yes he is good but is it fair? You do know his daddy is an ESPN analyst and this gives Beau an unfair advantage should not be allowed, and as Sweeperboy would say it Just Sayin

I love how apparently Beau is allowed to call his own plays in the field. I am curious if he would

have been able to with Dale as HC and this is just something the new coach allows or if you think Dale would of also let him do?

I'm not sure I understand.

Beau has an UNFAIR advantage because his father _____________ (fill in the blank)

what???

Passed on some good genes?

Helped him along the way, to become a great athlete?

Sounds more like a whining comment from a player from villa hills that he made look pretty silly just over a week ago.

Great! Now you've gone a done it!

There are some coaches who give that freedom to their qb's, I know Barker from his sophomore year on was allowed to call or check to any play at anytime. For qb's that can process things it gives them the added responsibility knowing that it is on them when they check to something, also the other players know when they do this, so the players know who called the play.

You want to clean this one up Tdy...Get Alan up to speed on your split personality...:thumb:

Good Luck Highlands. Though I would prefer my Colonels moving on, it just didn't happen. See you next year.

I'm told I was in the wrong line when they were handing out the smarts. Now I missed the secret decoder rings too!

For those not in the know, #18 Brady "The Bulldog" Murray is another kid that agreed to move positions this yr to the OLB position. This is one of the most overlooked and thankless jobs any really good defensive player can be assigned to in Highlands scheme.

Not a whole lot of action on the weak side of the formation and it takes a very disciplined and smart football player to fill the spot. Brady fits this position better than anyone on the team as the picture shows. He stayed at home on the trickery and had the play not been on the 5yd line and been on the 5.5 yd line he would have done his job to perfection and Highlands supporting cast would have recovered the ball for a forced turnover.

Brady is another kid that has sacrificed his individual accomplishments to help his team win and win big. As OB pointed out kids at Highlands have always done what they have been asked to do for the best of the team and this has been part of the recipe for success...

FWIW, it is my understanding that Brady is close to committing to Butler University for football even though he is a standout baseball player, Brady comes from a legacy of great Highlands football players and family, roll on Bulldog...:thumb:

This is why Highlands has and will always continue to be the class of Kentucky High School Football in my opinion. Self sacrifice for the greater good of the team is the epitome of a being a great teammate to help reach a common goal held by all. Many kids and parents may get frustrated and see it as a knock in stats or acknowledgment but those bred to win championships know and understand the true meaning behind any change.

Thanks TC, I think this mentality and sacrifice at Highlands has been going for a long long time and this isnt something that started with Dale, heck it started before Dale was even born...:thumb:

I cheated and went and watched the Hudl video of this play. JJ gets hit (first picture) then leans in the endzone. He loses the ball afterwards (2nd picture) IMO it was the right call.

TD or not he got lit up. I was 15 yrds from the play on The goal Line bu the small concession stand and it was a hollow sound. Nasty sound. Brady is a big hitter for sure.

I know its irrelevant but JJ didn't even get knocked down by the hit, if I knew how I'd post the individual play but the way its being described isn't how it happened at all.

congrats birds
