Rumors are swirling that Mercer County's head coach Chris Pardue is coming back but I haven't heard anything concrete on that.

 

I'm hearing the same rumors but can't confirm. I know there have been people ask him if he's leaving Mercer and he says no.

One name Chris Pardue I've said a few times this season I would like to see him back at Boyle.

My sons is a senior at Mercer and he said that he has not heard anything about Coach Pardue leaving as of now.

 

Sad to see Coach Mason go. I know I have questioned his play calling some but not. I think he does call a good game he is the coach and knows more about the O than I do. I wish him the best at B.E and what ever comes his way. We will miss him at Boyle.

Coach Mason is an outstanding coach and has been a great resource for me these past 20+ years. He is also a very good friend. I am happy for him and this new challenge. Congratulations to Coach Mason on a GREAT career coaching at Boyle, which included SEVEN state championship rings! :thumb:

I don't know anything inside, but I know Coach Pardue a little bit and think that if he did actually say no, you can trust it. Never known him to tell a lie.

After reading the threads on Pardue/Mercer County this season, if I were Pardue I'd probably already have an application in at Boyle.

 

But in truth, after his stint as head coach at Boyle, you wonder if Pardue would want to go back? I know he and Smith are friends and with Boyle dropping down to 3A, Mercer and Boyle won't be playing anymore.

No doubt, if any interest at all in returning to Boyle, it'd have to be a tough decision.

 

On one hand, every perk that you said about returning to Boyle...even though 3A, in particular 3A West is going to be a freaking gauntlet.

 

But, on the other hand, with the youth and promise at Mercer + the fact that IMO, they might be in one of the most 'wide open' districts/regions in the state..regardless of class for the next four years.

 

Coach Pardue is nothing, but a class act and proven winner...if in fact this is an option at all, one would have to feel pretty good about having a decision like this. Good problem to have for sure.

Remember that if Boyle hires someone from outside the system that there must be a teaching position available. I am sure that Chuck would want his new OC to be available for spring practice. I think it would be difficult for Coach Pardue to give up the head job at Mercer to come back to Boyle as an assistant coach even if there was a teaching job available. I am sure that Chuck has his own plan of action and probably will never read a word of what we all have written. If he has, you can bet it would not have any bearing on a decision he will make.

I would say that Pardue would make as much $$$ as OC @ Boyle as he is as HC @ Mercer Co. It is not that unusual for someone to not be @ the school in a teaching capacity for Spring Practice either. In order for there to be a teaching job in the fall, well that is an easy one right there, (untenured teacher out, coach that you want to have in your school for your program, in)

I haven't heard anything. I think Neal Brown can be ruled out now though.

I hope he doesn't. Mercer needs some stability in the coaching. Pardue has been doing a good job. Most stability Mercer has had since Jaggers left.
