How is it a homer call when the refs are not from the same area as either team playing?

 

3 of the refs for that game were from Murray! A hop skip and 20miles from MF!

This team is much better than that 2011 team. That 2011 team was very overhyped for a team that didn't win a state title they get too much credit. They aren't better than the 2007 or 2008 state teams and that's for sure.

 

Now, now ... let's not get carried away. There is no way this team is "much better" than the 2011 team. I won't even say they are better than the 2011 team. But this team can earn that on Friday, if they beat Mayfield. If this BW team loses Friday, I go with 2011 as better than 2014. The proof will be in what happens on the field. As of now, the resume of the 2011 team is more impressive than the resume of the 2014 team.

I will too, dress warm. The early forecast has the high in the low 30's for Friday.

I have been very impressed with Beechwood all season and in my opinion they were the best team Franklin County played all season. I don't know much about Mayfield but I can tell you Beechwood is a very physical and talented and well coached football team. I look for a great game and I would not be shocked if Beechwood wins this game.

No one with any knowledge at all of these teams would be shocked. It is not by accident that either has made it this far. These maybe the best 2 teams in the class and I think they likely are.

If Mayfield or Beechwood goes into this game thinking that, I think that they will loose the Championship game EVEN if they are better than Williamsburg or Raceland.

The 1A east bracket is like the proverbial box of chocolates - you never know what you are going to get. Two of the past five champions have come from the east and won both times by clear margins so the east bracket winner certainly is capable of a title.

Well, what do you guys think Is the reason that Mayfield has prevailed?

Game planning...run vs pass

Individual match-ups

 

This years BW team has better depth in the trenches

Game planning will be more difficult as BW has an above average passing game

BW has players on both sides of the ball with the ability of winning match-ups

 

This should be a very good game. Hope the weather holds up and doesn't become a factor. As has been stated....this is BW last attempt to beat MF in 1A. Many of these Seniors played in the 2012 game as Sophomores...as well as few Juniors (as Freshman). They understand this opportunity and are up for the task.

The poll is nearly 50/50. Haven't seen that in any class A team playing Mayfield in recent years. Some of the Beechwood votes are from people who voted against them last week vs Frankfort.

It won't be in the endzone like other places!

I will say this, if BW has over 200 yds passing, they will likely win. If they can't get anything going in the passing game, they will struggle to put points on the board. JMO
