I think from a sheer talent standpoint, this years Tiger team matches up. From an experience standpoint, the Tigers have a slight edge. From a speed standpoint, I thinks it's a wash. I think the Tiger's passing game is as good as it's been in the past few years. The Tigers have a couple of solid RBs that can share the workload. The Tigers have a size and experience advantage in the trenches.

This years Mayfield team doesn't have a Guhy behind center for the 1st time in 7 years. The Cardinals don't have a breakaway receiver like an Xavier Shelton, William Higginson, Jordan Brown or Deion Jackson as they've had the past few years. This is the 1st time the Tigers have played a Mayfield team without a Jonathan Jackson willing there team to victory and making plays all over the field. This Cardinal team has been very penalty prone, time and again killing drives. Most knowledgeable Cardinal fans freely admit that this years team isn't quite up to par with some of the past championship teams. While some fans think the home field won't be a factor and maybe it won't, but, that 6 hr bus ride still makes a difference. One team has to make it and the other doesn't.

With all this said, it should be a very close game that could go either way. I'm picking the Cardinals and here's why. The kids on that team comes into every game expecting to win and nothing less will do. They typically play better and more focused against the better teams. Coach Morris will have his team well prepared and he will adjust as needed throughout the game until he figures it out. The Card defense will step up to the challenge and want to prove a point. This team has shown a lot of resolve this year and doesn't get flustered or lose it's poise if they get behind. Matter of fact, they seem to play better from behind. While they've had a few games where they've come out flat and uninspired and not played it's best, when they're focused and ready to play, they're very, very solid and an awfully tough out. I expect them to be focused and perform at a high level. While looking at the Tigers, I could easily see why others would like them to win this game, but, after going 0-6 lifetime against the Cardinals, until they actually beat them, there's always going to be some doubt in the back of there players minds, despite what anyone else says and like I said earlier, Mayfields kids fully expect to play a great game and win and if they're a little off there game, still expect to make adjustments and pull out a win, and, they'll have that same mindset for the full 48 minutes until that final horn blows.

True but this streak shouldn't have gone on this long. When Beechwood had dominate teams Mayfield got beat the week before.

I love it! Waited all year for this and plan on having a good time with it. Many of the newbies for Bw likely don't get it but I have a pretty good relationship with the old Bw guard but that changes nothing this week as the gloves are off.

Every single year for what seems like ever we hear the same banter this new bunch is no different. Lets see there was the 2009 Bw debacle where the arrogant BW fans could not fathom someone knocking them out but we crushed them

2010 they said 09 must have just been anomaly could never happen to us twice. It did!

Then comes 2011 and the greatest Bw team of all time led by the greatest class of all time the undefeated NKY frosh champs! We were told that there was no way the Cards could beat this team but it did yet again. A few up north concluded that the reign was over and clamored for MY

2012 - Much like the ancient Romans, the Beechies have found their Caesar in a frosh QB who is going to instantly save the once untouchable program. About this time Ft Mitch city council passes ordinance prohibiting anyone from using the name J Jackson or Mayfield in public. Mf does it again!

2013 - Caesar and the Beechies bow out early bringing the season to its earliest end in decades and not even making it to the Mf game

2014 - Stay tuned but I guarantee the Bw propaganda machine will be in high gear. But do they even believe what they will be preaching?

You mean the homer call that Mayfield got in the end zone? When He was being held but it didn't get called? Ha ha

How is it a homer call when the refs are not from the same area as either team playing?

This won't be one long trip across the state. Mayfield will make the trip from Louisville on Friday. Cards have not previously and will not use travel as an excuse for anything that happens here.

That's one way to look at it' date=' or if you don't actually have the answer you just keep quiet. [/quote']

I agree! No sense in angering the MF giant more than he already is! From the past meetings I would keep quiet, let things play out, no need to get MF angry and give them a reason to make a goodbye statement to Beechwood and class A.

Put up or shut up time for the Tigers. I think they finally get it done.

That's one way to look at it' date=' or if you don't actually have the answer you just keep quiet. That's probably more true than being nervous. Silence is golden when you're 0 and 7 vs. the opposition. :sssh:[/quote']

And seriously though, unless you're strapping it up on Friday night, there's nothing to be nervous about.

IMO, this will be a hell of a game. Of all games played over the past 7 times, I believe this is Beechwood's best team all around. The difference between this team and the one from two years ago is at quarterback, receivers, and defense, which has significantly improved IMO.

On the other hand, Mayfield is like nails as always and I'm sure nothing has changed with their defense. I've not watched much of them this season with exception to a few highlights online and was very impressed with Bright. Good luck to both teams.

Umm if they are paying attention to what I read then they are in trouble.

Dang it I meant what I'm posting.

Maybe not a homer call but it should have been PI.
