Mayfield has probably the most team speed between these two team and that's not saying BW is slow. BW will have to throw the ball more than they usually do to win this game. Mayfield is very stout against the run. The long drive wont mean a thing, Mayfield's coaching staff has that down pat. The game that stands out to me about Bw is their loss to Mt Healthy, They got way behind and fought back to only lose by 6, Mt Healthy is a very very good football team. BW has the talent to win this game but I like our chances, Bright will probably be the best back they have seen this year, he is explosively fast and our QB has gotten way better as the season has rolled on. As they say defense wins games and I believe Mayfield has the best defense...

Game will be close for a half, MHS will make adjustments at half and pull out the victory. Mhs wins by 10

Don't know if I'd say that. I watched Williamsburg against Newport earlier in the season and they looked awfully good to me. I'm sure that Raceland has a fine team too; haven't watched them.

I was at the Raceland game yesterday and they ran the ball a lot. Had some trickery plays too that they threw at paintsville.

First, let's get this out of the way - Mayfield is the favorite and that is not a debate. Beechwood has never beaten Mayfield. Mayfield is the defending champion. They have been #1 in 1A all season. Mayfield is the favorite, end of that debate.

Second, shock and awe .... that only happened one time ...2009 when Beechwood got their first dose of Cardinal football. Since then every game has been competitive. The Cardinals have treated Beechwood like the Tigers have treated Frankfort - the games are close at halftime and Mayfield pulls away in the second half. I believe the last two times these teams have played Beechwood led at halftime. In 2011, BW played the entire second half without their QB and still missed on a pass in the end zone in the final minute that would have won the game. No shock and awe. Just not quite getting the job done against a top notch program.

Why could this year be different? Because BW has the best passing game I have seen at BW in many years. They have two receivers that will be as fast as anyone Mayfield puts on the field that have good hands and make plays after the catch. The line is BW's best line all around in several years. Finally, the last time Mayfield started a sophomore QB was the year BW came the closest to winning versus Mayfield. Those factors give hope to BW fans that this year could be different.

Those will be some really fast WR's then!

Not sure that BW realizes how Bright makes GOOD defenses look stupid. They know he's coming and still cant stop him. This is the best defense that I have seen at Mayfield in years and defense wins games. Our defense has caused bad/rushed throws by the opposing teams all year. BW has the monkey. 34-20 Mayfield.

MF QB now is playing more like J. Guhy did as a Junior...and we won state that year.

OH LORD!!!!! You love to play this game don't you!

Yep I do!

This is a good, solid team! The best since 2011, but we would have to debate how they are compared to that team.

I love it! Waited all year for this and plan on having a good time with it. Many of the newbies for Bw likely don't get it but I have a pretty good relationship with the old Bw guard but that changes nothing this week as the gloves are off.

Every single year for what seems like ever we hear the same banter this new bunch is no different. Lets see there was the 2009 Bw debacle where the arrogant BW fans could not fathom someone knocking them out but we crushed them

2010 they said 09 must have just been anomaly could never happen to us twice. It did!

Then comes 2011 and the greatest Bw team of all time led by the greatest class of all time the undefeated NKY frosh champs! We were told that there was no way the Cards could beat this team but it did yet again. A few up north concluded that the reign was over and clamored for MY

2012 - Much like the ancient Romans, the Beechies have found their Caesar in a frosh QB who is going to instantly save the once untouchable program. About this time Ft Mitch city council passes ordinance prohibiting anyone from using the name J Jackson or Mayfield in public. Mf does it again!

2013 - Caesar and the Beechies bow out early bringing the season to its earliest end in decades and not even making it to the Mf game

2014 - Stay tuned but I guarantee the Bw propaganda machine will be in high gear. But do they even believe what they will be preaching?

I don't think this is what Mayfield fans think. I think they have heard so much hype from Beechwood folks over the years that they believe it will be the same old same old this year. This really is Beechwood's last chance for a few years to show they can actually beat Mayfield. They have the talent. Now it is up to the execution part.

After this year, will it matter if they can beat Mayfield?

I don't care what the propaganda machine says, it's either they have been at the saddle club too long, or not long enough.

MF is the favorite as they should be, they have handled BW each year, and until BW finally wins MF should be the favorite.

This is BW's last time to beat MF before they move up, will MF continue their dominance over BW? Or will BW give MF a going away present? Until I see differently I say the former.

Both have impressive losses, Bw loss to Mt Healthy is the best loss by a KY team this entire season and Mf's OT loss at McCracken is a dandy as well. Mt Healthy went down last night in a big way 38-6 but they were ranked 158 in the nation and 17th in Ohio. LaSalle who beat them is #43rd nationally and #5 in Ohio. That is stout, more so than anything we have seen for sure.

Finally, a post with real answers as to why Beechwood could beat Mayfield. Mayfield will be more 70/30 run to pass. Not a lot of pressure for sophomore QB. Beechwood has never been pass happy in games against Mayfield, so comparing this team's ability to throw compared to previous years doesn't say much.

My experience is when people talk to much, they are nervous!:idunno:

That's one way to look at it, or if you don't actually have the answer you just keep quiet. That's probably more true than being nervous. Silence is golden when you're 0 and 7 vs. the opposition. :sssh:
