Highlands looked disinterested. There were missed assignments, penalties, fumbles, questionable play calls, and way too many dropped passes. Good news is they won.

Congrats to the Birds on the win. I'm proud of the way Ashland played tonight. A question for you Highlands fans that went to the game. Was this the worst game they've played all year, or was Ashland a little better than you thought?

The Tomcats must have played a helluva game, I heard on our broadcast that you had Baker hang well over 200yds. rushing in them.

Great effort by Ashland. All year long the defense was the goat. If you take away the the last td which was scored after the coaching staff took their last shot by going for it on 4th and 12 from the their own 19 with a little over 6 minutes left in the game and down one score, they only gave up 21 points. No TD passes. When was the last time Highlands did not throw a TD pass in a game? I hope that next years class keeps the mindset they had tonight and prepares to make another season memorable.

From reading the thread and the story in the paper, it sounds like in some ways it wasn't as close a game as the final score shows. Did Highlands punt the ball in the first half? It sounds like every drive they got to the red zone then messed up trying to finish drives. The Birds finish their other 3 first half drives off at the goal line and the score in the first half is 37-7. That is not including making the field goal that was missed. Games can take interesting twists. That is why everyone in Ft. Thomas knows next week is a battle no matter how it looks on paper.

I dont know about the what if's and the game not being as close as it sounds. I do know that with about 6:30 left the score was 23 15 and the Ashland tight end ran a seam route and what if there was no procedure call and what if the 5 7 DB who was going to try and make a play on the ball couldnt out jump the 6 4 tight end and the pass is completed it would have been TD and the score would have been 23-21 and what if Ashland converted another 2 point conversion? The score would have been 23-23 with 6 minutes left and Ashland would have had momentum and the Bluebird butts would have been so puckered so tight that you could have stretched and hair across the crack and played a Charlie Daniles song. Maybe the game was as close as it sounded. Bottom line is Ashland's defense did hold and there was a procedure call and Highlands did win the game and to be honest they are the better team. It is pure arrogance to take anything away from Ashland in the way that they took what most would consider a disappointing season and stood toe to toe with a better team on the road and gave themselves a chance.
