There was a point on here that stated over 2/3 of the list was not coaches who chose to move on.

coaching may be turning into a profession where you are set up for failure.

What is going to happen and I think already has is coaches are going to stay somewhere 3 or 4 years and then leave for another job before they get fired. So just be prepared their thinking will be"get them before they get you"!!! And you cant blame them. heck when a principal is bad they move them to the board and give them a raise!!!!!!

More than that I believe. The only two jobs open on that list thus far due to coaches resigning, only to take a job elsewhere are:

Woodford County (Stonebraker to J-town)

Boone County (Griffiths to Barren County)

Something has to change. Either start paying up (both salary and into the program like states to our south) or keep all of that status quo like it is a most all of the openings (many of those, things aren't even that good) & realize that bad YEARS are going to happen.

Simply put, the expectations at an overwhelming majority aren't even a figment of reality, nor is the pay for the JOB it really is.

On a side note, I did speak with a friend of mine who actually had an interview this morning where the following question was asked:

"High school football and communities like ours, you are going to have your ups and downs; how do you deal with those 'down' years?"

First time I've ever heard of a question like that being asked in an interview. Maybe the paradigm will start shifting towards schools like that where it sounds like an administration that "Gets it".

I hope the applicant turned the question around to the administrator and said "High school football and communities like this one, we are going to have your ups and downs; how do you deal with those 'down' years?"

Owensboro...Joe Prince went after a college position.

^^Forgot about him. But, I was also considering him as part of the resigned group, or actually, retiree group. Year 27 for him this year. Full benefits.

$3 an hour. All the crap a head coach has to put with and the pay is not even close to the schools to the north and south of our state. But I still say these Prin and supers have no idea how hard it is to win and again I believe coaches will bolt in a moments notice because they know the story of Ceasar!!!

Sorry HD messed that up. Excellent post from you. All the crap a head coach has to put with and the pay is not even close to the schools to the north and south of our state. Could be a tough situation in the next few years if hs football turns into college football where coaches jump on the carousel after the end of every season shopping for the best deal. Heck stoops didn't win but was mentioned for the Michigan job.

And you cant blame coaches for protecting themselves and their families. Than is how it will be to because when you fire a guy after one bad year or to get who you think is a better coach it is getting bad and now coaches wont think twice about leaving a place. Again it will be the get them before they get you mentality!

Any news on what's going on with the Woodford job? Who has applied, will it be an assistant on staff, a big name coach, etc.
