Any news on what's going on with the Woodford job? Who has applied, will it be an assistant on staff, a big name coach, etc.

The only person I know for sure that has put in for it is Trenton Fields former quarterback at Woodford and current coach at GRC. Interviews should start around February 4 after the job closes.

What does Woodfords schedule look like next year.

Heard Johnny Poynter is the leader for the Carroll County job.

Man...he was already driving like an hour and a half each way to coach at Bellevue each day. Seems like Carrollton would be even more of a drive for Coach Poynter, coming from Richmond. Still, makes it sound like the discussion about whether or not he's gone in the "Is Johnny Poynter out at Bellevue?" thread has somewhat of a more clear answer.

He did coach at Trimble so I don't think the drive would be any worse than that

Question for Guru and Doyle - Do you see this year being a year of many coaches hired that do not actually teach at the same district they coach at. I have a friend that has been offered two head positions, and 1 assistant position, but none of the districts have teaching positions available. They have asked him to get permission from his district to take over the programs. He has to let 1 know on Wednesday and the other on Friday. The job he has now is good, but feels with re-alignment that it is dead end.

Dead end would be coaching for a school that can't make you a job.

Would not be shocked. Never thought I'd see the day that would be the case, but all in all...I think you are going to see a shift in the pendulum when it comes to coaches are going to start looking out for number 1 (themselves) even more so than ever before because of how out of hand the turnover is getting.

If that means keeping their current teaching situation in another district, yet coaching elsewhere...so be it. If that means not up and moving on a whim to the new town/community in fear of losing tenure and securities that they might have where they currently live/work...then so be it.

That word above with the word filter was supposed to be SHIFT....autocorrect must have left out the F. Lol. Apologies

IMO if you take a head coaching job at a school that cant get you a teaching job YOU ARE MAKING A SERIOUS MISTAKE!!!!! Head Coaches need to be in the school not only the head coach but asst coaches. If they can't get you a job in the school then they don't take it to seriously.

What if your not an educator?

So what you are saying then no school will ever allow a coach to get tenure now. That way when they want to get rid of them they do not have to keep them as a teacher. It looks very tough with the 30+ jobs to be filled that everyone will get a teaching job. There is no more creating positions. So it could work well if you have someone that does a good job that you would want to keep them happy, and pay them what they deserve.
