Still just a puppy!

I just now noticed this and everything about it made me laugh.

 

I'm turning the big 5-0 this year, but have an 8 year old, so I try to fool people into thinking I'm younger.

Just turned 47 this fall. (Is it bad when you actually have to stop and do some quick math, just to make sure?)

60, look much more mature. I don't ever think about age. Just another number.

I just gave a like to 2C's shoes even though they're a bit flashy for my taste. That should be a pretty good indication that I'm in the final couple of months of my 50s.

The outside world has no difficulty in relating to me, or respecting me in an age appropriate way, although thankfully I'm still being guessed perhaps about 10 years younger than I am, however with older siblings, I'm still just the baby of the family.

 

Can any of you "Babies of the family" relate to that?

Yes. I have lived away from my family for 20 years, raising my kids with no family support nearby, yet they still think that I don't have my act together and they never hold back in the advice department.

Isn't it wonderful when they know what's better for you than you yourself do without knowing all the variables?

 

Isn't it interesting when they offer such free advise that you never asked for?

 

Isn't it also interesting that they've never taken notice that you've never presented to them that same sort of free advice, and feel content with letting them live their own lives without your unsolicited opinions or interference?

 

Wouldn't it be lovely if they could pay you the same respect that you pay them?

 

Wouldn't it be nice while they're dragging you down by indicating that it's time to grow up, that they too could show signs that they actually have?

 

If they've by chance grown to understand the social graces of keeping their opinions of their acquaintances to themselves that they could translate this understanding to their own siblings?

 

Family dynamics can be a real treat at times, can't they?
