I'm 50 and the youngest of my family, but quite often am talked to by my older siblings like I'm 12, and must surrender myself to their older and wiser advise on how to live.

That's cool...I don't mind being 12...

However, I find it peculiar that when I was a teenager and they were in their 20's they were so much more wiser than me.

When they were in their 30's and I was in my 20's, they were so much more wiser than me.

When they reached their 40's and I was still in my 30's, they were so much more wiser than me.

When they reached their 50's and I was still in my 40's, they were so much more wiser than me.

Now that I'm 50 and they're all pushing 60, they're still so much more wiser than me.

I'm now older than they were when they were in their 20's, 30's, and 40's, but somehow in their eyes have still not gained any wisdom, and they are still so much more wiser than me, and I am merely just 12 years old, and they have no perception of this disparity and the peculiarity of it, and I do.

But...they are so much more wiser than me.

The outside world has no difficulty in relating to me, or respecting me in an age appropriate way, although thankfully I'm still being guessed perhaps about 10 years younger than I am, however with older siblings, I'm still just the baby of the family.

Can any of you "Babies of the family" relate to that?

BTW my top 10 favorite songs of all time are:

I'm So Dizzy

Yummy Yummy Yummy

Sugar Sugar

MMM Bob

Simple Simon Says

Chewy Chewy

ABC

S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y Night

It's a Sunshine Day

Little Willy

My older brothers have resigned themselves to the fact that my little brother and I are wiser than them. Just like I've resigned myself to the fact that my little brother has more book smarts than me (common sense is a whole different story).

Classic B-Ball-Fan right there. A simple double digit response would suffice but no, we get a short story with a list of favorite songs.

Just a hunch, but those older siblings never let you say much growing up, did they?

All in good fun B-Ball-Fan. I love it!

I'm going to be really concerned...and scared, if more than 1 choose Randy

My birth certificate says I'm 25 years old. My body says 80.

I hear you there. My knee probably says I'm at least 50. Hate to see how the body is going to feel when I'm done working as a beer vendor for the Reds haha!

Yep...you got that right... getting a word in edgewise at family gatherings was quite the challenge. No way I could make any worthy contributions to the discussions being just the baby.

They didn't notice that while they were "behaving", I was the analytical one sitting there studying their behavior.

Still hanging onto the 21-30 section. Turning 29 next week. Hard to believe I've been on BGP over a decade.

Same here! 10 Year Anniversary this year...

I must have missed my gold watch in the mail. :irked:

Right behind you guys. 10 years in January.

You're lucky. Perhaps a rare feat in family dynamics.
