1. Beechwood v. 6. Ra Jones

1. Newport v. 2. Beechwood

3. Ra Jones v. 4. Tichenor

 

This is the first time RA has had a team in the championship in 22 years and they have 2 this year. There has been a lot of talk about how they are in the small division but I know Beechwoods 6th killed most of the big division as well as Newports 7th. And Ra's 8th only lost to Gray by 3 who won the big school division.

 

Because of that I think we need to stop the small/big school name. I'm calling it Division 1 and Division 2.

 

Looking for some good basketball today head to Sharp Middle in Pendleton Cty.

Beechwood won the 6th grade championship by 27pts today. Coach Robke subbed liberally and got everyone playing time. Will Rolf, Cameron Decker and Walter Mattingly made the all tournament team for Beechwood. Great job Tigers!!!! :ylsuper:

Any updates on the 8th grade game? The coach for RA Jones should be considered for coach of the year. He has done a nice job with that team.

Saladin? I remember playing against a Todd Saladin who played at St Henry back in the late 80's. I wonder if that is his son. He was quick with great handle and could shoot back in the day.

Could be. Not sure of his dad's name kid is about 6'2" can play every position on the court. Played A point guard/point forward type role for Jones.

Newport 7th won their championship game, beating Beechwood by 14. Great game and Beechwood actually had lead end of 3rd until C. Jefferson took over. Congrats Newport.

It was a good game. Jefferson took over in the 4th quarter, D white had a couple big shots in the 4th quarter to go with it. Newport played great defense for most of the game only giving up 14 points in the 1st half and only allowing beechwood to score 5 points in the 4th

The catholic schools are getting ready to fight it out. Who you got?

The St. Mary Saints from Alexandria handed St. Cecilia from Independence a 43-22 thumping at St. Therese. St. Mary moves on to Friday (3/6) night's 8:10 semifinals vs the winner of St. Joe, Crescent Springs, and the St. Therese Mustangs.

Tuesday night (3/3) quarterfinal games:

St. Pius (Tuemler) vs. Sts. Peter and Paul Cardinals at 6pm

St. Joe Cold Spring vs. St. Pius (Shumate) at 7:05pm. Those winners will square off in Friday night's 6pm semifinal at St. Therese.

The championship game is slated for 10:15 a.m. on Saturday (3/7)

I thought it was odd too. Not sure what the story is on that. If I had to guess, IHM would be the only one in Boone that would have qualified record-wise, but they played in the public school league I think, and maybe opted not to participate in the Diocesan tourney.
