Hey everyone, long time viewer, first time poster. Just wanted to give clarification on the 7th grade Catholic Tourney. It's the top 4 teams from the Kenton/Boone County League that is played at St. Henry (I think those are all A teams) vs. the top 4 teams from the Campbell County League. Here were the seeds:

 

Kenton/Boone:

1: St. Pius

2: Blessed Sacrament

3: IHM

4: St Agnes

 

Campbell:

1: St. Mary

2: St. Joe Cold Spring

3: St. Therese

4: St. Thomas

 

St. Mary lost by 3 to St. Agnes last night.

St. Joe beat IHM by 6 last night.

St. Thomas plays St. Pius tonight at 8:10

St. Therese plays Blessed Sacrament Thursday at 7:00

 

St. Mary/St. Agnes game was close throughout. Kremer scored a bunch early for St. Mary but St. Agnes went to Box and 1 and slowed them down. Green from St. Agnes hit some big shots late. Both teams played pretty well and kids from each side stepped up with some big shots.

 

St. Joe was down around 10 to IHM in the 3rd but when IHM's big kid went to the bench with foul trouble, St. Joe went on a huge run. I think it was something like 20-2. They forced a bunch of turnovers on the press and Mullikin and Ethan Eilerman hit some big shots to pull away.

Interesting how the 4 (Agnes) beat a 1 (Mary). Must be a competitive grade level.

 

Pius will be tough to be beat, but that's why they play the games.

The brackets a parent from a St Joes player showed me the other nite had the Pius Shumate team as the 2 seed, and the Pius A team the 4. This was emailed to them by their coach. Hopefully they corrected that.

 

 

 

 

Again, if they wanted the tournament to be more competitive, they should have looked at the St Agnes league, as MQH and Blessed Sacrament would both be closer to the A teams talent wise. Neither of these schools I believe has an A team, and are both pretty solid.

Blessed sacrament has an A team then playing in Cov Cath league, and a B team playing in St Agnes League? I did not know this, but suspect it must be the case since games are both on Saturday morning.... The Blessed Sacrament team at St Agnes is pretty solid for a B team.

I was not able to attend any of the diocesan games this week. Any surprises?, any standouts?

Beechwood 6th beat Guardian Angel by 11pts tonight in the St. Agnes Tournament. It looks like St.Agnes will not work with Beechwood again! Beechwood 6th is going to have to forfeit their game on Saturday because of the Small School Middle Championship game. They are scheduled to play Bracken Co. at 9:15am at Sharp. The St.Agnes Tournament game with Victory is scheduled for that morning also and they won't switch the time. This is a bunch of garbage if you ask me! If I was Beechwood this would be the last time I played in that tournament.

The coach chose to forfeit the game because of the quick turnaround time needed to get to Sharp. St. Agnes had no other options due to it being the final weekend of tournament. The guys that run this tournament do a tremendous job and work with all teams involved to accommodate schedules better than anyone else does. Is it their fault that the conflict arose due to weather cancelling the middle school games the weekend before?

Why couldn't the other tournaments switch their times? Is it all on the director at St. Agnes to accommodate? They tried, it didn't work out with what was available and that's too bad. FWIW, they were able to switch for the 7th grade Beechwood team on multiple occasions so it's not anything against Beechwood.
