Cordia 2014/2015

No, no, no. I don't understand how people in essence try to justify what Cordia did because, supposedly X County school did the same thing with 2 transfers, Y City school had 3 and has done it for years, so on and so forth. NO ONE is on here saying those schools aren't in the wrong if those things happened. NO ONE is saying those schools shouldn't face consequences if guilty. What many of us, or at least I, am saying is that you can't do what Cordia did, essentially rub everyone's nose in it and expect to get away with it. No school should, be it the lowliest, smallest KHSAA school in the state, or the biggest most mighty one.

A beat up green 72 Ford Pinto speeds down the BG Parkway doing 87 mph. A brand new bright red 2015 Corvette on the same stretch of road goes by doing 120. Both pass a state cop at the same time. Which one gets noticed first and who do you think the cop goes after under most circumstances and gives a ticket to? Cordia was driving the red Corvette and got caught doing 120. No one's fault but their own. But it doesn't mean the Pinto wasn't in the wrong and shouldn't get a ticket as well.

And I'm of the opinion that the KHSAA should be tougher on one member school taking/poaching players from another member school than they should be on a member school who takes kids from a non-member school.

When we're talking about big-time schools, that's what's happening. It's one thing if a kid and his family come to you. It's one thing if a kid comes to you before his freshman year. It's another thing when you have coaches scouting city middle school games. It's another thing if you put feelers on the AAU circuit and get a kid to drop the program that's developed him and play for you during his senior year.

I wish the KHSAA would be harder on kids who see three schools in three years, not a kid who leaves home and goes and lives in a school's dorm for a few years while he plays basketball there.

I've heard people justify transfers by saying "well, he came before his freshman year, so it was legal", but I've not really heard some of those same people buying the reasoning that "well, Keita and Lulu came as middle schoolers". When they talk about Cordia, it's "a whole team full of transfers", but they aren't as quick to apply that logic to other programs or kids.

Let's give Cordia two exceptions for Keita and Lulu since they came as middle schoolers. Lets give Cunningham once since he had a family member on the staff (which is another justification used for lots of kids' transferring). Now let's say they get the 2 or 3 like other schools that everyone else seems to be fine with. At this point, with the way the numbers are adding up, they were really only a couple of kids over, so maybe we should just start saying they should have only had 2-3 less. *Sarcasm*

Here's how I "justify" the situation with Cordia: the KHSAA has shown time and time again that they won't punish any of the big dogs for doing some of the same things. It's not as if I'd be claiming Cordia shouldn't be punished if they were doing things that other schools were getting punished for, but I'm not completely convinced that's the case.

Good luck this year in court and on the court Cordia and Coach Rhodes.

SMH :no::no::no:

Yep, I'm leaving this thread and never coming back.

What was so disagreeable about what I said?

Are there not schools taking kids from other schools for their senior year?

Are there not people who put out feelers on the AAU Circuit?

Are there not people affiliated with high school programs who go out and scout middle school games?

Are any or all of these not shrewdly (or not so shrewdly) done by people who are loosely affiliated with the program as a means of insulating the programs and staffs themselves of having direct involvement?

Has the KHSAA shown that they will uphold their ruels, even if it means that a kid who is a big time transfer is ineligible?

Have people not used the "he came into our program as a freshman, and that's allowed" and the "he had a family member take a job on the staff" lines when it came to other kids (e.g., CVH; Cameron Justice)???

Maybe someone knows something I don't, so tell me. I remember awhile back that someone was saying they were going to write a huge exposé on Cordia and all the Candian transfers, but they never came through with it. Maybe if I'd have read that, my mind would have been changed.

I don't know that it's any one disagreeable statement or even any inaccurate statements. I myself stopped visiting any Cordia-related threads a while ago because the entire discussion has taken on a somewhat unhinged tone. It's like attending a party where drunk friends swing Nerf bats at one another.

Not sure if this has been mentioned in this thread or not, I apologize ahead of time if it has. Christian Cunningham played basketball at Cordia and moved back to Henry Clay after the season and graduated from there. I know kids transfer for athletic reasons but are not always found guilty, however in this case it is obvious.......He was at Cordia for a total of 8 months, did his family member on staff leave too? Cordia sold their soul to make a sweet sixteen and sadly the kids who are still there attending school are paying the price.

Sounds like my idea of a good time.

Include me in the never come backs....

FYI cats 1950 cunningham's mother was unemployed for 3 years and needed a job. She got a job at Hazard Community College. It was a temporary federal grant type job. It lasted only 8 months. The job ended at the end of April. When the job ended she had no means to pay her rent and moved back to Lexington. They had a legitimate reason to leave. On the other hand the Toomer kid from perry co moved back to Lexington a couple of weeks after they were eliminated from tournament play. No one says a word about that. The 7'0" kid from Scott co moved back to North Carolina after they were eliminated from the tournament. No one mentions that. Hell the Scott co kid moved here with his "mentor"to get some better exposure. That is not my words that is his words in the Lexington hearld last summer before he ever played a game. That smells fishy to me,but that is just one of the big boys that it's program just sells itself. What a joke. LOL.

Equal application schmequal application. If you folks that are taking the high road against Cordia don't also feel that there's a need to do the same as it relates to the KHSAA, you're either very naive or are blinded by your hatred for Cordia.

This thread is so weird. A school gets caught cheating and the reasoning behind it is that others do it and don't get caught so leave Cordia alone.

When others do the same and its brought before the KHSAA, yet they still fail to act or find anything wrong, then why should it be different for Cordia? Because people don't like them?

You can't get all personal about Cordia's situation compared to what has happened at other schools regarding the KHSAA. Do you have every bit of information involving other school's cases and the KHSAA? Were you in the meetings with them when they make their decisions with the evidence in front of them? Cordia has had it's share of haters since Rhodes became the coach but everything the haters said last year was proven to have some substance once the KHSAA investigated and handed down their ruling. You assume it's different for Cordia but I'm not sure what is so different. When schools get caught engaging in illegal activities they are punished. What schools have been caught by the KHSAA engaging in illegal activities and not been punished? That's where people are messing up in this story. People keep making statements about other schools not being punished and things of that nature. Were those schools caught doing wrong like Cordia or are you just speculating that they were doing wrong? Proof goes such a long way.
