October 13, 201411 yr ..... I'm on the fence here: I like that Pac-Man played well enough to run his mouth post-game, but I don't love guys singling out a teammate in the press. I also would love if Nugent would paste him in the locker-room, but I also think he'd end up in a body-bag, so that may be frowned upon. All in all, while the defense was HORRIBLE, at the end of the day, an NFL kicker HAS TO make that kick. Period. I'll also add, since I have said it in other places, the efficiency of the offense yesterday minus Eifert, AJ, and Marvin Jones, plus missing Zeitler, plus the amount of useless penalties, was great to see. Need to get the defense and specials fixed and quickly. Luck has to be drooling to host this defense in 6 days.
October 13, 201411 yr Generally I agree with you, and comments like that can cause a lot of turmoil...unless you're talking about the kicker. Exactly. There are 3 people that will publicly defend a kicker. His coach, his wife and his mother. Unless you are Mike Vanderjagt. Then you are on your own.
October 13, 201411 yr People also need the rest of adams post game comments that werent in that article. He signaled out a lot of positions for needing to do their job. He talked about the zone read and how people have specific jobs to do to stop it and they didnt and same with pass coverage. He was defending Pauly G and how his calls were fine but that people didnt do their job.
October 13, 201411 yr Andre Smith is also very high on the blame list in this one. He allowed a pressure on Dalton that resulted in Smith's man hitting Dalton's arm leading to the INT and long return that really changed the game; had a holding penalty that negated a TD; immediately after the holding penalty he gets a false start that further hurt efforts that could have run clock and ended the game in regulation on the field goal Nugent made.
October 13, 201411 yr What I enjoy about Pacman is he isn't afraid to speak up and/or act when someone misses an assignment or pokes him with a beer bottle.
October 13, 201411 yr Nugent should be fired. No excuses. He choked. You simply can't have a kicker who chokes when its all on the line at the end of the game. Jones is right.
October 13, 201411 yr And at a minimum I think the Bengals should bring in some kickers for a tryout.
October 13, 201411 yr Kickers lose accuracy the way that older QBs lose poise in the pocket (think Drew Bledsoe). One too many big misses or hits, and they can't help but shank it. It is like they get Steve Blass syndrome. I think that Nugent is there.
October 13, 201411 yr Honestly, looking back, I think the Bengals were lucky to even eek out a tie in this one. I mean, you have Gio go 90+ yards on his TD run, you Pac Man go 90+ yards to set up another easy TD...and it's not too hard to imagine the Bengals getting rocked by 14 at home in regulation. Defense is lucky the offense had those big plays to help out. But you better not be counting on them next week.

Then you have to consider the INT long return for Carolina, the TD that wasn't late in the game, and the missed FG. Tie was about right for the game. Neither team did a good job of stopping the other.
October 13, 201411 yr In reality, the Bengals are just a tad late in signing the former liquored up Denver kicker, who is money by the way.

Because of the fact he has been a pretty good player for the Bengals, we forget that a man is paralyzed for life for what Pacman's posse did to him in that strip club.

I know, I am trying to move forward.

He is like a golfer who has begun missing 3 footers - he may have the kicker's equivalent of the yips...
