Adam Jones Blames Kicker Mike Nugent for Tie

He's wrong on where, and to whom he said it.

I don't disagree.

The team didn't lose. But it also didn't win. He still missed an easy chipshot. You may not like what the idiot said, but he's still not wrong.

He wasn't wrong that Nugent missed a FG that NFL kickers should make but he is completely wrong laying the loss at the feet of Nugent. The defense is more to blame for the loss. Anyone that puts the results of a game on any one play has life confused.

I don't know. 50+ yards? I'm not blaming the kicker. 45-50 yards? I'm not blaming the kicker. 44 yards or less? I'm blaming the kicker. If Shaquille O'Neal is fouled with 0:00 on the clock and his team is down by 1 point and he goes to the line and misses both free throws and his team loses, I'm blaming Shaq. There are some things that I think should be expected from professionals in those moments and chip shot field goals to win the game is one of them.

Word. That's why they get the big bucks!

$1.3 million in base salary this season for Nugent with a $100,000 workout bonus.

But woods the game DID come down to one play. Regardless of what transpired before, good or bad, it was literally up to the kicker to knock one thru for the W. And it was a chippy by today's standards. Heck, Ted Nugent had a shot at that one. Literally, the result of that game came down to one play. Not remotely confusing. You execute, you win. The culmination of all of the other stuff literally came down to that. Was pacman an idiot for saying it? Sure. I don't think anyone has ever confused Pacman as being anything less than an idiot. But he and his mates basically had that game turned over, no matter how you view it, to the guy who could with one play ended it in their favor.

Sorry, I just tend to look at the whole. If you are going to take 75 mins of football and put it all on 1 play that ended the game then what's the point in the previous 74:59. Why not show up flip the coin and let the winner's kicker go out an boot one for the win or tie? It's completely short sighted blame any loss on 1 play. I don't care if its the first play of the game or the last. Not different to me then to say NFL overtime is decided on a coin flip.

Know if you want to argue that Nugent should be fired then have at it. He's 11 for 17 and probably deserves it. But I have a feeling if Nugent is 16 of 17 with this being his only loss then this thread never gets started.

is nugent still hired ? or fired ?

Shoot, if he's in a funk, I hope they ride him like he's a Derby winner. I'm just saying that games do come down to one play. Can the whole be blamed on one guy? Everyone contributed certainly. I don't think he deserved to be called out. But the delivery from Jones was stupid, however accurate, IMO.
