tha champ Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 Who do they have back, and will they be able to compete for a state championship this upcoming season?
MountainThunder Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 They bring back some solid players. But lost a lot of talent as well. Losing Sam Gardner, Rod Johnson, Salin Simpson, etc in the same year is an awfully talented group to replace.
strongopenyon Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 Henry Clay lost a host of talented seniors, but still have some outstanding talent, especially in the skilled positions. I think the key to their season is to find replacements at quarterback and all five starting positions in the offensive line. That will be a monumental task for Coach Simpson to have a first year quarterback playing behind a totally inexperienced offensive line. They have talent in these positions, but it must be developed.
The Golfer Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 On paper no one can argue that the team in this district with the most returning players is Scott County. They should be very tough to beat.
SLINK Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Scott Co. does have a lot of starters returning. Henry Clay does have some talent returning also. But the Blue Devils did lose an awful lot of talented players.
MountainThunder Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Scott County will be the team to beat in the region, not just their district. They were young in 2005. Will be more experienced and loaded in 2006!
Kevo302 Posted March 25, 2006 Posted March 25, 2006 All I know is South Laurel scrimages Henry Clay this summer. Both team's lost a lot from the past season and will be in a rebuilding process.
strongopenyon Posted March 25, 2006 Posted March 25, 2006 In fact, Henry Clay lost seven three-year starters. Four of those have received Division I scholarships. It will be difficult to replace the likes of Simpson, Gardner, Hawkins, Johnson, Birch, Breen, and Allin.
