The question I ask everyone, Why can't CCH compete against Highlands on the varsity level?

 

 

Plain and simple.....coaching! I also think if one thing goes wrong CovCath starts thinking uh oh here we go again. There is a huge mental edge for the Birds.....HUGE!

So I wasn't there. Was it truly a mismatch like the score indicates?

 

Side note, any doubt as the who is number one at this point is now dead. Time to put it behind us and regroup.

It actually should of been a lot worse. HHS was inside the 5yd line 3 times in the first half and didn't put any points on the board. Should of been 35-0 instead of 14-0 at half.

I don't want to pile on .... but I was like watching a horse and wagon against a jet plane.

I won't help covcath by giving away secrets but the covcath players were checking out their play cards, appearing confused, and burning clock. That's coaching. Almost got two back-to-back 12 men on the field penalties. Did you ever see a HHS player on the field look confused about his assignment. I hope he never leaves.

 

Anyone who saw the Campbell game: Ask yourself. How far has HHS come in three games? It amazing.

 

Great win against a good high school football team. Highlands continues to go to the next level again and again.

Hoge was intercepted on the third play from scrimmage, so Highlands set the tone by running the ball 12 straight times on the next drive. They made a curious sweep call on 4th and 1 from the CCH 2 and got stuffed, but they had established the run at that point. They ended the night with over 300 yards of rushing at about 6 ypg. That set up the pass, which led to some wiiiiiide open Birds in the secondary. It was a clinic. Halftime score should have been something like 35-7. They missed two FG opportunities (one a bad snap, one a wide right on their last play before the half) along with the already mentioned goal line stand. Highlands defense had some nice fourth down stops, too.

 

CovCath looked against Highlands kinda the way Dixie looked against CovCath. They are living rent free in their heads.

Just a reminder:

Someone at covcath needs to reset the clock in the coaches office tomorrow concerning the countdown for the next time covcath will beat HHS....or does it just reset itself automatically.

Just some tidbits I forgot to mention. Random nonetheless.

 

- Mitchell Cain #16 for the Birds has developed into quite a 2nd option. His TD catch in the corner where he 're-adjusted was sweet.

- They play FAST were the words from ASAP's Doug Monoghue to describe Highlands.

-The Cowboy played a whale of a game at Safety.

- CovCath showed little emotion and looked like they were done at halftime.

- Huge advantage for Birds is putting opposing teams on that sideline in front of stands.

- All Highlands RB's ran well...kudos to the line.

-Great fan support nothing better than Friday Night Lights.

 

Is there a lot of of carry over from Dale's staff to the current staff at Highlands?

 

I believe the entire staff.

Highlands may be down compared to the last 3-4 years, but they're still some separation between them and the rest of the pack.

 

The CovCath fans I talked to thought this was the year they get the Birds. Maybe next year.

I think if a casual fan was watching last night he/she saw a clear distinction . One team seemed to be into how they looked: new pants, making sure you had one red glove and one blue glove, making sure your red towel was in place. The other team came out looking uniform and simply cleaned clock.
